Case for playing Pakistan regularly

Contrary to regular jingoistic views, I dont believe isolating or avoiding Pakistan works for us. The latest game made me more aware of this. And fair play to Pakistan team. They had many odds stacked against them and the team was outstanding on the day.

 

1) Unless Pakistan breaks up ( which it will eventually ), they will have a functioning cricket team. India will play them in critical tournaments.

 

2) These players will always be unknown commodities for Indian players. You could clearly see the difference it makes in last game. We couldn't line them up simply because they are unknown commodities. While they get to see lot of us playing. 

 

3) The hype has to reduce around these games. More you glorify these ties, more pressure on players. Man to man, India will beat this team 9 out 10 times. But avoiding the 9 matches, we give them a one off to boost their morale. Indian team can batter them comfortably over a series.

Englands Team B beat this Pakistan team. Its a fact. Proble was thats how Kohli and Bevada approached this game.

 

What is indeed needed is that Indian media or fans stop creating the hype. ICC will automatically let Pakistan Cricket go down the drain and reach its rightfull abyss

Unknown commodity isn't a thing now.  India has played Shaheen in Asia cup 2018..  Although it was Shaheen's debut series.  We have a weakness against half decent left armers & he is actually quality.  We have played Imad Shadab Hassan & even smacked them around. 

 

Pakistan also didn't played against Varun Chakri Pant & Surya...  Yet they made better plans & execution was spot on. 

We were pathetic as simple as that.  Need some big changes that's it.

I know it is hard to predict cricket matches in future. But I don't think playing them often is needed. They won on Sunday due to these factors as well apart from cricketing reasons.

 

1. The pullout from NZ and Eng did hurt them a lot. Some of their cricketers also pulled Ind into this to prove a point. This was always bound to galvanize these guys. 

 

2. These guys had nothing to lose. They had never beaten us until that point and if they lost, people would have not been surprised. It definitely helps.

 

3. Everything fell their way. The toss was a mentally crucial factor. The rub of the green went their way and they probably knew that it was their day.

Will stop watching Indian cricket if we keep relations with terrorists. Pakistan players might be decent but their board , the military mafia and politicians are treacherous. They should be left to their own devices till they eventually fall. We should have no business with them.

Complete boycott please. if it means losing 2 points, so be it. If it means not playing them in an important knock out match, so be it. We once boycotted playing apartheid South Africa in the David Cup finals, that helped accelerate the general boycott of SA in different sports. 

 

Let's do it once and set a precedent. it has to be a part of our state policy given that they would see nothing more than India as a nation getting completely annihilated.

They are good at putting on a veil of being decent individuals. Scratch each of them them and beneath the veneer of decency, you'll find a religious fanatic. Countless examples of that.

Yes that is true. Once we throw this guy we should be okay.

One cannot go against the stand taken by the GOI to win a cricket game. 

 

In world cups even associates can beat an established team, it would not equate to playing more with that associate. Good teams are expected to handle challenges thrown at them.

I agree. But I don’t think we have “civilizational clarity” to take this position. 

I means let’s be honest. We bent the knee for one incident in most developed country in the world, while we know the situation Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Just mere questioning on this gets you labeled as white supremacist. Not making this up.

Until Pakistani government makes a major, permanent, non-reversible, externally verifiable change to its policy on "non state actors", no sane Indian should support change in bilateral cricket policy.

 

Stupid chest-thumping in sports is less important than national security and foreign policy.

I always felt allowing their players in IPL is the best way of cultural warfare.

 

You see kids in India wearing NBA,Soccer and NFL jerseys.

 

you already see every Pakistani YouTuber discussing India and Indian cricket and only singing praises of it.

 

you hang the carrot of IPL money, Pak Board and players will show even more humility.

 

Pakistan as a country doesn’t have any role models outside of cricketers to look forward to. Now just imagine if their biggest cricketers are famous as a CSK or a Mumbai or even a Delhi player. 
 

It is very one dimensional way of thinking that just isolating them is the way. Keep your enemies closer than your friends. I am not implying Pak cricketers are enemies but have the entire Pak population invest in the IPL. Right now they watch PSL out of jingoism but give them an alternative and take away little things like that.

 

Pakistani ISI has played Bollywood for years now, that’s why we see all those Aman ki aasha movies, time to strike back via cricket. Is Jay Shah another privileged pappu or smart enough to pull that off needs to be seen

Actually yes. I have changed my mind on this. We need to boycott completely. Reasons are different though. 
 

It’s very clear that Pakistan Establishment have taken a view that they have to create fissures in Indian society after article 370 and 35 A. Everything that has followed after this win makes total sense and is in line with this strategy. 
 

Complete boycott is the only solution. I have to agree.
