Sanju Samson should be our next t20i captain

So in the past few days a lot of names have been thrown up by ICFers as good LOI captaincy candidates, including SDP, Pant, Rahane, etc. I thought I would also throw my hat into the ring and suggest a name as well Sanju Samson. Reasons:

 

1. Got the best out of some very mediocre players at RR

2. Won’t be the best player in the team so there’s so pressure on him

3. This is the age of specialist captains as demonstrated by Morgan, Thala, Shanaka etc.

4. seems like a guy who steps up when his team is collapsing/not performing well around him like RR, Kerala, etc. When the going gets tough, Samson fgets going, and lastly,

5. “Samson” sounds like Samsung, whose slogan is “Do what you can’t” as in, do what Kohli can’t as captain.

 

 Thoughts?

samson has consistently failed to play well at int'l level. with that said, he'd be better than rahane, although that's not saying much

Does one select the best X1 of a country and then choose a captain out of it or do we anoint a captain and then build a team around him fitting the jigsaw puzzles?

Not sure if this is a troll thread or a serious one.     Samson averages 11 after having played 10 t20 matches (10 innings) and has a SR of  110.   Worst by any Indian batsman to hv played 10 or more matches.  This guy should not be even playing ipl or any other domestic tournament.   He should find some other source of income, other than cricket.  Maybe he has started searching already.

I disagree... Rinku Singh should be our next T20 captain.

In all likelihood It will be Iyer or Pant after Rohit. Rohit will be captain for 2022 wt20.

Also he is a mallu, which automatically makes him 100 times more awesome than any other player

I can't think of anyone in the ipl at least who has been a captain who is less suited to that role and this includes someone like Kl rahul. Guy had his chance in the sl series and looked like a spud and then some, I was all for his inclusion before that.

Would be a regressive move considering No-hits age and size of his belly.

I think SDP makes a great captain. He has age on his side too and is the Kapil Dev/Ian Botham/Ben Stokes equivalent for us.

KT KUnjumon may not even find a spot now in the side. Shreyas Iyer is the only one that looks like captain material. Too bad his T20 game sucks.
