Popular Post NameGoesHere Posted January 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) Sigh OP, what nonsense. I’m so disappointed in the typical unthinking attitudes of people here. Grow up will you. First of all Pakistan’s unique geostrategic position, at the crossroads of empires and history, translates obviously into an equivalent position as a natural peer amongst the cricketing superpowers. This, as any reasonable person would agree, is not open to debate. It is a logical conclusion then that any exclusive global tournament of elite tier rivals must have Pakistan as a participant. Then, we cannot fail to recall how Pakistan single handed brought down not one but two great empires - USSR and American. In fact, go back far enough and one sees that it even defeated that greatest of conquerors - Sikandar. Thus, Pakistan’s own track record as a proud nation of warriors ensures spirited contests in any world ticket tournament. In short, such a team of fierce cricket battlers are guaranteed to set stadia on fire and excite audiences wherever they go! I’m also deeply disappointed that India so far refuses to acknowledge its debts to Pakistan. The real victim of terrorism in the past decades has really been Pakistan. In fact the Mumbai attacks of 2008 (by non state actors who could have belonged to any state) resulted in huge financial, emotional and human losses to Pakistan. The least that India do as recompense is to help Pakistan to their natural position as a leader in the world of cricket. Finally, we can all frankly admit that India is a poor nation ridden by problems of caste, religion and and class that has got somewhat fortunate enough in developing its cricket infrastructure. Pakistan on the other hand is a nation with rich natural and human resources, deserving of the elite category, except that it has been stymied by a few temporary misfortunes. We must be capable of more mature analyses devoid of sentiment, but which reflect the true sociopolitical and economic reality.
