The best part is that by resting, he will be captain of India in Tests at home for the first time against a low ranked Test country, so a winning series is a great way to make your debut and stamp yourself as the new captain.

SL have batters who can play spin well (e.g., karunaratne; matthews; D. de silva) and their spinners are quite versatile. It will not be an easy win. 1-1 is possible.

He looks much older, like 33 or 34.

Shami's actual age is around 36-37.

If he is 36 and can bowl those fiery spells then hats off.

He is also a matter of time till he breaks down completely.

He doesnt have that foundation of training as a youth to rely upon.

At least pace bowlers today are a lot more looked after physically then from yesteryear.

Who is this guy? Cricinfo writer? Those guys have inside info

Captaincy comes with a shelf life.. Rohit will take over temporarily till others emerge. Ashwin may be a choice too

Could be entirely wrong here, but I don think Hitman was injured for the Tests?

I just dont think he ever wanted to play for India with Kohli as captain ever again.

So he deliberately avoided a series and allowed India to lose.

Is this also an act of terrorism?

I'm asking this coz he thinks placing your interests above your country is an act of terrorism and somehow Kohli, Rahane and Pujara are terrorists.

I had a relook at fixture, it is in India. We should be fine there.

Kohli was  committed, passionate and very aggressive as a leader.

Looking at other side he was a poor people handler, insecure, arrogant and with zero sense of tactical/strategic acumen.

Overall, team underperformed with him as captain.

Good that he stepped down in a dignified manner.
