50 years ago, a lanky and awkward youngster did a Bombay to Goa.

He ended up being a superstar.

 

I see Arjun following his footsteps and history repeating itself.

Unless Goa associated told him he will get chances, does not make sense. Mumbai domestic circuit has more junior level tournaments than any other.

Goa will probably give him more Ranji and FC game time, even if against lower ranked opponents.  Those would still be better than the junior level tournaments in terms of development.  In a season or 3, if he somehow improves and puts up some gaudy stats, he could always come back to Bombay to play that Abhishek Nayyar type role for them.

Good luck to him!  The Tendulkar name is a double-edged sword for sure.  In some ways it could be frustrating - every article (including the one linked on the OP) about him starts with "Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar ..." 

 

No matter how much he tries to make his own way, the 62" shadow will always be with him.

Guys like Mohinder Amarnath managed to make a name for himself. But it is very rare.  Sanju Manju tried to emulate his dad. Some success. After that confined himself to be a full time panauti of Indian team in the commentary box.

Amaranth and Manju played in BC. They had zero social media. Imagine them playing now.

Good strategy to move away from the high pressure situation of the Mumbai cricket scene. Rohan Gavaskar pursued a similar tactic and played for Bengal. He even managed to play a few games for India, had a decent career in FC cricket and now makes a living as a cricket commentator. Sure, he didn't achieve even a 100th fraction of his dad's level of success but so what? He pursued his passion and gave it his best shot. It's not like these star kids need to succeed in cricket to feed their families. They can very well afford to fail. If they are passionate about cricket and want to invest their time in it, why not? It's better for them to pursue a passion which requires dedication, discipline and fitness than waste away their time and money in "recreational" pursuits.

Fair play to him. It's a good decision to look for playing opportunities at this age. Hope he does well

That's why I said "unless told" by Goa association... Depending on his improvement, he will be playing for Mumbai sooner or later. He is not as bad some want us to believe. By Mumbai cricket circle is such that even if one does not get to play for the side, he keeps getting match practice at lower level which is not the case with Goa.

Thank god cricket is not like politics or bollywood/tollywood.Can BCCI also get rid of its infestations like Jay Shah.

 

You still need to have talent to play the game.

Always a challenge when you pick the same field as your superstar dad.

Abhishek Bachchan always had his dad's 62" shadow (literally) all his career.

 

Maybe they might have been better off in some other fields?

Slight quibble: 

 

Tendulkar's shadow would be 62" (5'2").  Amitabh's shadow would be more like 74" (6'2") ;-)

Arjun should give up cricket and do something else. He's not going to make it big as a cricketer. Guy's putting unneccesary pressure on himself.
