Harsh Thakor Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 (edited) Today we celebrate 40th anniversary of Pakistan's 1st test win at Lords, the mecca of Cricket. One of Pakistan cricket's most defining moments. A combination of an epic knock of Mohsin Khan, the bewitching spin of Abdul Qadir, the penetrative seam bowling of Mudassar Nazar and the astute leadership of Imran Khan. At junctures it seemed that England were on the road to safety in rain affected match, with a loss of almost day's play.Mohsin Khan Khan's mammoth 200 was the epitome of grace and technical perfection ,reminiscent of momunment being constructed. Zaheer Abbas batted with the ease of a boat cruising before being dismssed for 75.Pakistan were dismissed for 428.England seemed to be coasting along to avid the innings defeat before Abdul Qadir spun a web around the Englsih batsmen, simply bewildering them., capturing 4-39.Finally Imran closed the innings of England by trapping Robin Jackman at exactly 200,to enforce the follow on .In the 2n Innings Mudasar Nazar sent England reeling, with lethal movement. England looked doomed at 9-3.Finally after staunch resilience by the lower order England were dismissed for 276 in the 2d innings, an Pakistan cruised home chasing a target of 76 runs.Mudassar's 6-32 ranks amongst the craftiest exhibitions by a medium-pacer, who brilliantly exploited the atmospheric conditions. Hard to find an adjective to describe the ecstasy of the Pakistan fans.Mohsin Khan bowed down to the Mecca after the winning shot, thanking the Lord. The Pakistan mental resilience won the day, making inroads at crucial junctures.Pakistan levelled the series at 1-1, before the final test at Leeds. Pakistan were turned from a talented bunch of individuals into a well-knitted army by Imran. Edited August 16, 2022 by Harsh Thakor Norman and rkt.india 2

Great writeup. Pakistan vs England has always been a hard fought series between two giants of the sport. sage and dilliboy 1 1
zen Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 (edited) Nice read -> “Zaheer Abbas batted with the ease of a boat cruising, …” “Abdul Qadir spun a web” could have been phrased more interestingly though Edited August 17, 2022 by zen

Guess which team has most defeats?
