Going forward DK replaced by Pant is a no brainer.

We need to practice catching under lights badly before SFs everyday.

I am still hoping for KL to come good and say we shall go ahead with him and Rohit at top.

 

Only question is what we do with Axar/Hooda.

We are missing Shardul Thakur badly in the squad.

 

I would say Chahar..Thakur isn't no 7..he is more no 8 but spot on otherwise...maybe hooda in place of klr but that won't happen.

If we can't take sides like Zim and BD for granted, do we even deserve a semifinal spot?

Its still Gloom & Doom as the shortcomings in the team are too many.

1. No decent opening partnership going, even if we want we do not have another tested opener in the team in place of either KL or Rohit.

2. Poor fielding standards and lack of stealing singles / 2s  most of the time.

3. No wicket taking spinner in middle overs .

4.  No trusted Finisher - We have Pandya to some extent but he cannot counter high pace rising deliveries.

5.  Poor performance from Pant - neither he does work out as an opener nor in lower MO. 

6.  Need players to take down spinners 

 

While we do not have readymade solutions , at least we should  try to fix a few things with our available resources going forward in this WC.. 

 

1. If pitches remain bit pace bowler friendly as is now - would like to open with VK & Rohit. Currently among many VK looked good against quality pace . His role should be anchor at one end esp. first  8 overs .

2. Bring in Pant and use him where he can face 6-7 overs of spin. Thus you create at least 3 players to hit spinners -Pant, SKY & Pandya PLUS they are also decent vs pace unlike Iyer. 

3. Bring KL to lower MO - 5 or 6  and his role should be of finisher - He is better vs Pace so  better chances of success than Pandya. 

4. Not much choice in spin but may be stick with Axar or Yuzi .

5.  Niggle out DK  & bring Siraj - Will be a good option to have .   

6. Fielding -  Ram Bharose !!

 

Team will do better if  Pant  & KL  contribute better at their roles and spinners pick some wickets . 

TM should atleast give the team a chance to do better with a little tweaked up team Combo and then hope Pant , KL & spinner do a decent job .

 

Atleast we should be among 4 best teams and capable of upsetting atleast 2 of them on any day .

Garbage this is NOT a reality check. Indian Cricket is substandard.

Watch us smash Banga and Zimb and watch 1,2,3 be among the runs.

Everything will be considered to be ok.

Get to the semi by some chance, we will be knocked out by anyone be it Australia, England or NZ.

As a fan we all have right to complain but I don’t see the SA game as total lost.  Listen what team said after the match.  They have preplanned to attack on line ups and it was gamble to play Ashvin also.  The swing bhuvi and arsh got was amazing.  Not all the wickets are like Perth and I have full faith on this team to win the World Cup.
