Not all doom and gloom plus a much needed reality check

Openers are still ****. Pandya batting getting exposed with each match in these conditions. Pant is still only a potential, he never clicked in T20I

Nz side is just too good with their match ups against us. World class leftie pacer to pack our openers, high speed Ferguson to take care of pandya and lower order, excellent fielding to not lose any chances and a game changing batsman in full form.

Well Ferguson isn't as tall. He will not get the bounce Nortje got on THIS track.

Agree but can't change openers now. Also most openers have struggled in this tournament so far.

This was always going to be the toughest match for us and we were in the hunt till last over. In all upcoming matches including SFs(if) we have something going in our favor.

Arshdeep was really good and with him and Bhuvi we have our power play secure.

Shami was really really good today.

Even Hardik bowled well except one over.

Everyone including me doubted Surya's ability to play in these conditions but he played a very good knock to get us to a very good total on this track. Unfortunately he got out with 10 balls left.

Going forward DK replaced by Pant is a no brainer.

It will give us a lefty at no. 5 and Pandya can bat at no. 6 which suits him.

We need to practice catching under lights badly before SFs everyday.

I am still hoping for KL to come good and say we shall go ahead with him and Rohit at top.

Only question is what we do with Axar/Hooda.

We are missing Shardul Thakur badly in the squad.

Only other poster not asking for KL’s head

The only difference is Kohli got back into form.

That may not necessarily be a good sign as when he is in "form", his team (IND or RCB) tend to struggle to win a title (after some success here & there) :dontknow:

I feel openers are just looking for balls in slot to go over 30 yard circle. They should also try to find gaps for their drives and cuts. With 2 3 slips there are definitely gaps available. The conditions so far have been chalk and cheese compared to what we got even upto warm up games. Fresh pitches, under lights, cold weather.. it is too much for them to handle when they prepared for world cup playing on true bounce flat wickets.

India needed an epic bottlejob to scrape past pak, netherlands managed 120 plus.

This team needs to improve massively in the knockout games.

Netherlands played us in Sydney which is relatively flatter also Arshdeep was having some fun in the end and got hit for 3 boundaries in last 3 balls.

Agree with you we need to improve but no team has looked like unbeatable so far.

If anyone who thinks that this will be a one off collapse by our batsmen then please recall our batting performances against NZ in ICC tournaments. I say this because, chances of NZ finishing top in their group and us on 2nd in our group are very high (unless we manage to goof up our next 2 games) and it could only mean that we will **** our pants (again!) vs a gentleman named Mr. Boult.

That's BS excuse.

Wayne Parnell was not at all swinging and Rabada too wasn't doing much.

Against Trent Boult, Starc, Hazelwood etc. who actually swing at decent pace your excuse was reliable.

They have zero confidence in themselves

Parnell was getting movement but he was bowling wrong line. Rabada I agree didn't settle for a length after that six off Rohit. But it still wasn't easy to put him away in these conditions.

Minor execution errors, eminently fixable. Not like we have a batting lineup hopelessly incapable of scoring well in these conditions. Bowis looking solid as well. One easy run out or a sitter caught instead of dropped by Virat, and we win against SA.

If "your" team had performed anywhere close to India level this WC you would have already pronounced them ATGs.

Nothing surprising every armchair critic with eyes knows that this Indian team was one of the worst fielding units, you simply can’t go into knock out games with such a fielding unit. Baring a totally destructive performance with the bat or the ball for either side fielding will determine games when equally good teams play each other.

SA bowlers out fielded our best by miles, that’s as much as you need to know. NZ are the best fielding unit in the WC by miles, by miles. Unless we see some magic with ball or bat, we will lose again to NZ, no chance we can win a close game with a below par level fielding effort at this level.

Indian team is the worst athletic team in this tournament.

Look at Nzl,SA, Eng,Aus they all look like star athletes.

Pak fast bowlers are very athletic for T20 especially , they can slog, bowl 140s and are decent out fielders.

SL is usually a competent fielding side and while some players do look like amateurs, they give it a 100%. From 1-11 their batters can clear the boundary in their zone.

Bangla team too didn’t stick out yesterday.

Indian team with Rohit, Ashwin, Shami (minus the bowling), Arshdeep, Bhuvi and even Pant. Seriously don’t know if these guys can complete the tradition desi training of ground ke char chakkar lagao.
