Arjun Tendulkar: lower on pace but has some oomph

Not being fast enough is okay as long as you can complement it with other skills. Bowlers who bowl at less than 130k need to be able to move the ball appreciably and also need to be deadly accurate. Praveen Kumar was a great example of a bowler who,  despite his lack of pace, did fairly well due to these other two attributes he had. Even Bhuvi earlier in his career was able to move the ball significantly and was very accurate.

Tendlya Jr fails on those fronts too. He starts spraying the ball as soon as he feels a little pressure. His bowling action just doesn't appear to be natural and he doesn't take advantage of his height. Even Mumbai Ranji team didn't pick him, so he had to go to Goa. At this point, he is just denying a more deserving candidate a place in the team.

+1. I appreciate his desire and efforts to make it as a cricketer, but he hasn't shown the level of talent needed to cut it on the bigger stage. Maybe he can try celebrity cricket league or play in a minor county in England to improve his bowling. There's nothing wrong in wanting to pursue cricket as a career, but it must be at the appropriate stage.

The run-up and action that he’s got , there’s just no scope of improvement unless he’s willing to make some significant changes. I get it. Bowling 145 plus ain’t everyone’s cup of tea but surely u can bowl 135k minimum.

The fact that he’s bowling in the mid 120s is embarrassing. To put that in context, MS Dhoni bowled at similar speeds. Even Piyush Chawla’s  faster one is 120k. I mean you’ve literally got no monetary limitations, he could have easily hired some expert to correct his action.
From what I’ve heard, his batting ain’t great either. I just don’t get it. It you’re doing cricket full time and if your end goal is to make it to the National side, at least bowl 135k minimum  and work on your batting.

Exactly. He is tall and well built lad. He has that inswing going for him but he needs a good bowling coach who can work with his runup and other technical issues and he can easily clock 135+. Don't know what's holding him back. He has access to top bowling coaches around the world but still he is bowling these embarrassing speeds.

He must have already done all that - hiring good coaches, fitness, nutrition etc. Bowling fast is not an automatic guarantee for a tall, well built bowler. Pollard is built like a truck but bowled at pedestrian pace. Jason Holder is 6-8 or 6-10 but isn't big on pace.

If he had done, his action and run-up would have been better.

Watching him since his u19 days his run up still doesn't feel right. So don't know what his coach Subroto Banerjee has done. Not expecting him to start bowling 140+. He is already bowling 126-134. So it's not that big a leap for him to bowl 135+ if he rectifies his technical issues and if he wants to bowl faster. Many bowlers have gone from bowling 125-130 to 135+. For example Flintoff when he started was more of a medium pacer. But he went on to bowl 140+.

he needs to improve his batting or else no chance he will ever be a specialist bowler:

also I dont think I have seen him field. they  seem to hide him in the field. He looks athletic so I would assume he is decent in that skill and is dad was one of the safest catchers in the side.

Players like Tendulkar Jr should continue to play for MI.

Unless you follow MI, why would you mind if MI plays Tendulkar Jr

If Tendulkar Jr can attract MI fans even better!

Fans should request MI to ask Tendulkar Sr to unretire so both father and son can play together in the 11.

Frankly, MI can waste a spot or two on whomever it likes!! … Other teams have nothing to lose but to gain 2 points!
