Enough of KL Rahul. And Shubman Gill (even though sponsored by the BCCI). Just look at their Test averages after 50 and 27 tests respectively—it's been a long career for both. It's senseless to retain these two. I don't understand how the selection criteria in the BCCI work, especially when lobbying seems to play a role.

We will go with 4 pacers so, atleast one of them should be a workhorse.

Even spinners can stop run flow from one end with defensive field. 

 

Bowling accurately is entirely different from economy. Economy can be achieved in Tests by being defensive and not troubling batsmen at all.

Ishant was highly accurate and constantly threatened to take wickets He wasnt just economical.  His SR since 2015 was around 53 which is quite good. 

 

One thing Prasidh can replicate is bounce. Mukesh is more suited to Eng conditions like Bhuvi.

This is how Mukesh has bowled against the 2 bigger teams he has played against in tests. 

 

It's unlikely that he would be economical against Australia. Neither would be Prasidh.
