But will take around minimum 6 months to return to field just for practice. Thats March 2026. That catch kind of won the match for India and also this injury made sure of Kohli and Rohit Sharma s future in Indias team till 2027. But all these discussions for another time. Just hope he is stable and taken to normal bed from ICU tapandrun, Laaloo, Gollum and 2 others 1 1 3
cowboysfan Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 he will be ok but he wont be playing cricket anytime soon. tapandrun 1
Lone Wolf Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Catching techniques of Indian fielders are usually weird and there is always a risk of injury. Aussie or Kiwi fielders would take that catch with a perfect technique and make sure the landing is smooth. Hopefully not a long term setback. raki05 1
Stan AF Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Hope this isn't serious and hope he gets well soon

Yeah but this was a freak injury man, very difficult catch even for SENA standards. Just bad luck I suppose. He always puts his body on the line while fielding, remember him dislocating his shoulder in a random ODI couple of years back, which kept him out of action for a long time. Quite disappointing that some people still question his commitment just because his chronic back problems aren't allowing him to stay on the field for multiple days. BCCI made him a scapegoat last year and almost finished his career. To me, Iyer is a team man, selfless, who always gives his 100% when he steps on the field. raki05, Lone Wolf, New guy and 5 others 1 7
Manucrick Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Injured at wrong time wish him a speedy recovery
ShoonyaSifar Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Oh man. Wishing him a quick and full recovery. A spleen injury can indeed be life threatening. Amitabh Bachchan got exactly the same injury during Coolie shoot back in early 80s. Took him a good 8-9 months to fully recover including a nearly two months hospital stay and multiple surgeries. Glad Iyer got quick medical help and is in best medical care. His well being should be the topmost priority, discussions on his cricket future can wait. Vk1, Gollum and New guy 3
vvvslaxman Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 (edited) THe last second stretch can cause these serious injuries. I remember Kane williamson while playing for GT did something like this. He got injured badly on the boundary when he had to stretch a bit more. Cummins does a lot of this. Never gets injured. But he does a lot of stretching exercise. His body is supple to withstand abuse of his body. High time our players start working on Dynamic stretch, static stretch. Sundar is another guy who needs to work on stretching. It is not enough if you have 6 pack. Pandya despite being fit can easily get injured while celebrating. Iyer's case is not falling under that though. It was unusually extreme push to get to the ball. I though Amitabh was stabbed by mistake on the sets of Coolie. Learnt something new today
