If a bowler bowls less than 10 overs that is very different than not bowling at all, just for this record in particular.

Most teams have a number of all rounders, so at least 1 bowler doesn't bowl their entire quota, but they still participated in the match. However, if the bowler doesn't even bowl in the match, it's like a batsmen at number 4 being counted as playing a batting innings, when only the top 3 batsmen batted. Just my opinion.

you are right, so the innings thing can be done for a bowler too. But how will you take care of exceptions like matches reduced to less than 40 overs...% of max allotted is the only way I see.

I guess it would only be fair to not count reduced games, but then it gets too complicated for this record.

Please tell me, if something measures how many matches it took for a bowler to reach 100 wickets, how do you count a match where the bowler doesn't bowl.

That's why we feel number of steps is the most accurate..:bandit:

Chahal 64 in 36 and Kuldeep 69 in 36 are in race to beat Shami.

Bumrah has 11 games too to get 22 wkts to match Shami

He's been amazing. Has played non stop on the tour but keeps running in. Great to see him back for the ODIs and do well. Experts point out at his high ER, it should not mater. Look at his SR of 28, absolutely smashing. Always prefer bowler who gives us 3/60 vs someone who gets 1/45 consistently.

Bumrah, Shami, KulCha are our 4 bowlers. Bhuvi on pitches which have some support for bowler.

I'm glad our WC bowling line up looks settled barring any injuries, Bumrah Shami Hardik Chahal Kuldeep would be the first choice bowling attack, which can be tweaked for team balance/rotation.
