I Was in 2nd yr and my exams were on my head when 2007 t20 Wc was about to begin and i didnt study a bit so i wished i fall sick. As my luck wud have it i got chicken pox and i enjoyed the whole WC and other gave xams. 

Ohhh boy what a tournament was this and yuvraj batting and that bowl out was an icing on the trophy

The revenge that yuvi got makes it a lot sweeter.

Was in organic chemistry tuition class for entrance exam preparation. After an hour or so we(Sir included) threw our Morrison Boyds and Reaction Mechanism books(Sanyal) away to go and watch the match in the landlord's house.  Suffice to say H.C Verma and Loney met the same fate in subsequent matches. Ah the memories...... 2007 WT20 to 2011 WC was the best time to be an Indian cricket fan.

Yet Dhoni was somehow hailed as architect of that world cup. Without Yuvi India would not be winning last two world cups.

 

He was the main man in 2011 and also 2007.

The QF and the SF matches were much tougher. In the QF after sachin got out, we still needed 100 more runs and with only 5 wicket down. Yuvi and Raina played brilliantly. In the SF, when wickets were falling, Sachin was still scoring and then Raina played an invaluable knock. Without Raina, we would have been bowled out for 220. Granted Wankhede and there's more pressure, but that pitch was a patta. Wankehede was always known for a good chasing pitch around that time. Majority of the work was done by Gambino and Kohli.

That was the over which propelled T20 to the heights of popularity IMO. After a disaster in 2007 WC, Indian cricket's popularity was at a low. Yuvi's heroics and India winning the tournament boosted spectator interest again.

It is infuriating that 2007 remains our sole WT20 triumph. We should have had at least 1 more T20, may be 2. 2012, 2014 and 2016 all were held in Asia and we messed up all 3 times.
