Jamadagni Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 There is going to be another selection blunder tomorrow. We will go with a batsman short. Should go with Dhawan or Rohit for Pandya. Rahul Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Rohit/Dhawan Dinesh Bhuvi Bumrah Shami Ishant. Batting looks very deep all of a sudden. Should give 100%. There are no dead rubbers in TESTS.
Gollum Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) No role for spinners and Rohit. If the deck remains this green tomorrow and we are put into bat this will be my batting order: 1. Bhuvi 2. Ishant 3. Che 4. Parthiv 5. Vijay 6. Kohli 7. Rahane 8. Dhawan 9. Pandya 10. Karthik (wk) 11. Shami Edited January 23, 2018 by Gollum Frustrated, Tattieboy, adi B and 6 others 1 1 6 1

speedheat Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 If grass stays as it is we should play bhuvi here, go with four pronged pace attack of bhuvi, umesh, shami, bumrah may be drop ashwin. Frustrated and Mosher 2

chewy Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 From Cricbuzz, justifying why doctoring green pitches is fine compared to turners total nonsense justifications cant believe the Indian journalist doesn’t provide a rebuttal but accepts the fact. No wonder a perception is built that performances in SA or england are more valuable http://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/99860/series-chatter-will-sa-follow-ipl-auction-in-peace-and-are-india-really-the-best-test-team How are Faf du Plessis's demands for a pitch (like the one at Cape Town) any different to India's Turner at Nagpur? Why is one extreme and the other not? Tristan: My feeling is that his request is similar, but there is a difference in the way that the two types of conditions are prepared and behave. With South African conditions, it is possible to prepare a pitch that suits fast bowling at the start but also has something for the batsmen - the pitch at Newlands was actually good for batting on Day 2, and would have been even better on Day 3 if it was not for the rain, which then spiced things up again for Day 4. That shows there was at least some variance in conditions with periods where different types of players came into the game, which was not always the case when South Africa were in India. When Dean Elgar, a self-confessed "pie-chucker", is taking 4 for 22 in a Test against India, you've probably taken things too far. South Africa's request has also been for "pace and bounce", which does not have to translate into a three-day game. You can have attractive pace and bounce that aids both bowlers and batsmen at various points of a game that lasts five days. I guess the problem is that if you want to prepare a wicket with serious turn from Day 1, it's only ever going to favour the bowlers because it will inevitably deteriorate further. And as a consequence of that, the toss becomes overly important. It's a pity that India won every toss of the 2015 series, and South Africa have won both tosses on this tour. The experiences in both series lend weight to the argument that we should do away with the toss and let the away team decide what they would like to do first. mishra 1
Gollum Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 The way these SA curators are preparing the pitches, no regret whatsoever from my side w.r.t the pitches we laid out for them. speedheat, WC2011INDIA and AuxiliA 3
Gollum Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) @chewy I made this point in an earlier thread, copy pasting here. More than goras I want to abuse all the brown nosers who criticized the home pitches of 2015-17 and downplayed our staggering home run. Same guys prostrate before the goras (esp SA, Eng) who get wins on doctored pitches on their turf. I won't lump Aus with those 2 because IMO Aus always provides fair pitches for all teams. P.S. I don't think any of these pitches are poor, variety is an essence of cricket and it is good to test the over rated batsmen every once in a while in an age of flat decks. In fact if any pitch deserves to be rated poor, it should be the one where 1500+ runs are scored in 5 days with no result in sight. As you can see, batsmen who applied themselves have got runs in all the above 4 matches. Somehow I feel there is bias when it comes to pitch preparation by goras viz a viz Indians. The pitches weren't as green as this one if the reports are to believed. This team is down with every player playing for his spot except captain, which doesn't help matters at all. 3-0. Can we fast forward to WC 2019. At least the FTBs will shine on some of the pattas in the league stages before getting a green mamba in the semis or finals.
rkt.india Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 seems on the drier side though there are rain forecast whole week.
