putrevus
All bowlers did well.Ishant played very vital role in picking up those two wickets and keeping lid on scoring rate . Ishant has become a bowler who will bowl long spells and be economical which is very important in keeping the lid on run rates. Monga's article says it best about Ishant. Bhuvi is a must in England , Bumrah is rising star and Shami is the leader of the attack. So the question becomes which bowler has to make way for a spinner. I would be tempted to leave Shami out. Shunya
Current form i.e IPL, Nidahas trophy will decide that Also, the best thing about England tour is that ODI and T20s will be played ahead of the Test series so everyone will be acclimatized and no scope for avoiding practice games and stuff. Is that true? then it is best thing. I really wish they played odi/t20 series before this test series. They would have had a great chance of their first series win here. Link to comment

express bowling
New contenders like Saini may raise their hands too. In tests in England, I will play Bhuvi 2 among Bumrah, Shami and Saini based on current form and fitness. Link to comment

Cricketics
My line up for first test in England Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli Rahane Shankar Saha Bhuvneshwar Shami Bumrah Saini If the pitch asks for spin bowler, I will be bringing Ashwin or Jadeja. Against Afghnaistan In the one of test, I would play Shaw Rahul Pujara Rahane(captain) Pant(WK) Shankar Pandya Jadeja Kuldeep Saini Bhuvneshwar Link to comment

ShebbySB
For a typical English track that lasts for 5 days this is my XI:- Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli (C) Rahane Saha (wk) Pandya Ashwin BK Shami Bumrah Reserves:- Agarwal,Nair,Karthik,Jadeja,Ishant,Umesh/Saini. If it's a green mumba then 2 changes where Ishant comes in for Ashwin & Nair comes in for Pandya. Dhawan & Rohit dropped. Link to comment
diga
We can still play 4 fast bowlers and play Ashwin as the all-rounder.. Pandya's bowling needs lot of work saik 1 Link to comment
Khota
Why on earth is Ashwin an automatic selection? He needs to fight for his spot. Link to comment
rkt.india
Pitches are green like last time then we don't need a spinner. Ashwin was ineffective last there. adi B and cowboysfan 2 Link to comment
FischerTal
replace dandya with ashwin. ashwin is a useful bat. even if he cannot take wickets, his main job will be to contain the runs. Edited January 28, 2018 by FischerTal Link to comment
BeautifulGame
Depends on the pitches .We play very late in the season (First test starting on August 1) , so don't expect too many green wickets .So would go with 2 spinners and 3 seamers. England suck against wrist spinners ( Yasir Shaw Bamboozled them) So Kuldeep is a must in the team. And Ashwin has batted at six in County cricket last year and did well.So similar strategy to how we play at home but with Kuldeep in for Jadeja .Ashwini for Pandya. Vijay Rahul Pujara Kohli Rahane Ashwin Saha Bhuvi Kuldeep Shami Bumrah If the wicket is green , would drop Ashwin and play a batsman. Edited January 28, 2018 by BeautifulGame Link to comment
Muloghonto
For England we need to take Pandya out and put in Ashwin if the pitch is dead. If the pitch is juicy, then we take out Pandya and one of Shami/Bumrah, then slot in a batsman and Ashwin in their place. Link to comment
Gollum
Eng will probably field 8 LHBs against us, if that is the case Ashwin should play all 5 tests irrespective of the pitch. AuxiliA 1 Link to comment
