Two new balls

Recommended Posts

Quote

Having 2 new balls in one day cricket is a perfect recipe for disaster as each ball is not given the time to get old enough to reverse. We haven’t seen reverse swing, an integral part of the death overs, for a long time. #ENGvsAUS

No spin, no reverse swing, just simple testestorone. Not taking away anything from Scotlands or English performance so far but If Scotland scores 350 against English line up. It means we better put a bowling machine

Certain teams couldn't play reverse swing or spin so they got rid of the 1 ball rule.

I think the 2 new balls is a big reason the scores are so inflated now as well.

Non-SC teams got rid of 1 ball only because old ball was helping spinners or SC pacers. Spinners could choke runs in middle overs, now they have taken offies out of equation.

Since leggies are ruling the roost now, soon a solution will be found to tackle these bowlers too.

That disgrace that kookaburra calls a cricket ball should be banned but SENA countries would rather have two of them from either end. What is needed is one good Dukes ball which has more lacquer and a prominent seam which would mean that the ball would conventionally swing/seam longer and further as well as bring reverse and spin into play later on.

@Rasgulla any views on this.

I think the guy is more worried that kohli will break his 100 100s more than anything. He wants to slow it down a bit but it's still gonna happen one day. I think he should just chill out and accept that Virat is 10 x better team player.

Exactly. Once you take the skill factor out and make it a power game you see the dominance of western teams over SC teams and cricket, specifically ODI cricket, has suddenly become England's strength. Now ICC(read OZ/ENG/NZ) want to do that with test cricket as well and you can see the measures being taken (pink ball, trying to avoid the toss, labelling pitches 'poor' etc. etc.)
