Manish Pandey shouldn't be in the squad, let alone the playing XI. He should arguably not even be in the 'A' team.

Pandey flopped in IPL, Sunrisers at one point dropped him and he only played because Sunrisers didn’t have decent batting resources

Pandey lacks the power game required at his batting position

 

to finish off at 21 runs off 20 balls vs Ireland, in final 5 overs of the innings is beyond hopeless

 

and yet he is in starting XI of India’s T20

Pandeyji brings stability. Imagine India scoring 250+ and Ireland losing by the highest margin ever. That would be such a low for this upcoming cricket nation and hence world cricket in general. We don't want them to end up like Netherlands after getting smashed by Lankans, do we ?

 

He's thinking on a very high level and beyond this strike rate nonsense. Kudos to Dhoni for inculcating this management culture into the team.

understand the diff between selfish n lack of skill

Pandey has never been a good LOI player for Karnataka, he's clutch and has played some good knocks under pressure but never been consistent. It's actually in the longer format he's very good, been oour best player. Plays spin and short ball as good as anyone in the country,weak against the moving ball. It's his unorthodox technique which has gone against his. Case of picking a player for the wrong format.

Simple stat to show difference between the two:

Rahul - 4 dots in his entire innings of 70 (excluding dismissal)

Pandey - 4 dots by the time he got 4 runs (4 runs off 8 balls)

 

And Pandey came in when India was in a brilliant position against a minnow. Now you guys decide how much of an idiot/ego maniac Kohli will be if he decides to go ahead with Pandey over Rahul in Eng series.

Language, dude! Lets not call him selfish here.

 

Imagine if some billionaire invited us to be CxO of one of their companies and gave a truckload of benefits with it. Wouldn't we grab that opportunity and try to make the most of it instead of being truthful about our lack of experience ? That's pretty much every bad selection including Pandey. Its up to the selectors/leadership to make these calls and it sucks that there's recurring problems in very basic decisions.
