Following India's defeat, footage of former skipper MS Dhoni taking the match ball from the umpires before walking back to the pavilion emerged. And that led many wondering whether that is the beginning of the end for the 37-year-old.

The not altogether uncommon scene of a player taking the match ball led many on Twitter to speculate whether the 37-year-old was going to announce his retirement from international cricket.

While it is true that Dhoni took the stumps following a drawn Test against Australia, which turned out to be his last Test.

Don’t get your hopes high. Has happened in past... this is actually a ploy by his PR team only to shore up support. He ain’t going anywhere until WC2019, atleast.

However it’ll be difficult for him & his junior Kohli to retain jumping jack Raina...

Raina’s time up it seems...

He is too young to retire. He is only 70 years old. He can easily play for another ten years if he doesn't get bored and retire at 80.

Is he considering Indian Gov policy for retirement. Then there is something called VRS selector shall give him VRS.

This parasite won't leave the team until he is kicked out, itna drama saale retire hona hai to hoja, this is just his PR team trying to gain some sympathy for this phateechar

And his PR is succeeding, there are few idiots bawling in twitter asking him not to retire. One idiot wrote something like 'u are my childhood memories if u retire I will lose my childhood' or some similar ****.

Dhoni is ek number ka troll.

Dhoni has become the S.U.S.U man of Indian cricket. Shameless, useless, selfish and unshaven.

Don't expect him to introspect and retire. He still has a lot of altitude to plummet down to complete his fall from grace.

I read one comment on facebook. The guy said "After ABDV and Dhoni, there's nothing exciting left in cricket and I will leave watching cricket eventually".

As if losing one or a few blind fans will stop this sport

Abdv to phir bhi samajh mein aata hai but yeh dhoni ke liye cricket kaise chor sakta hai koi, a mediocre player in 2 out of 3 formats, led India to the worst overseas phainties in history, lost India 5-6 t20 world cups, the only format he was good at was odis but even in that he has been sh!t since 2013, he is also one of the biggest hypocrite in cricketing history, saala movie mein dialogue maarta hai we are all servants of the game but bc jab khud pe baat ayi to he is stuck to the team like a parasite, it's a shame that a phateechar player like dhoni has gained so much popularity.
