I just love that he did well with his wicket keeping. Many of us have become skeptical about wicket keeping skills of young keepers. Nobody trusts WKB after Dhoni. Most of people, even on ICF doubted his wicket keeping skills. The only point is we need to give him chance and that is the only way for his improvement. This team management and selection committee has been too conservative with introducing new players. I like that we have a proper channel of U19-> Ranji/India A -> National team, but in certain cases you need to try players earlier. Shubman Gill, Prithwi Shaw, Mayank Aggarwal, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Siraj are the guys we should see in national team in next 1-2 years. Now, only other thing team management needs to do is selection of players for right format. Select Siraj for tests not for T20s.

Bcos Bumrah and Ishant are primarily inswing/inward seam bowlers he was moving towards the left as most collections will happen that side. For Pandy and Shami he was not going much to the left.

Bumrah to Buttler, no run, dropped by Pant, and it's because he moves the wrong way and then has to compensate. Bumrah's angle upsets batsman, we know that. But here it upsets the keeper. Pant moves to his left. Then spots the outside edge as Buttler is forced to play. The line is too close to off stump to leave. A hint of movement takes the outside edge - a fairly thick one - and Pant, despite a full-length dive, can't catch up with it

Bumrah is difficult to handle for both batsmen and keeper.

Its a basic enough mistake that there's every chance of it being corrected, and fairly soon.  Pant's keeping is clearly a W-I-P.  But its still more promising than the likes of Parthiv.  I'm old enough to have seen young PP debut, and Parthiv was equally promising as a young keeper who could bat at the highest level, but his technical deficiencies were far more glaring and harder to fix.

Footwork needs to be worked if he wants to be a great keeper but to be honest most keepers these days go with their hands rather than focus on fleet footwork. He has good hands, that is the main thing right now.

I don't know if we can give him a passing grade, he has taken regulation catches which any keeper should take.He has technical flaws in keeping which need to be rectified.Batting is still unknown.

He dropped a similar one off Bumrah in the first innings too.  Batsman was Root and Pant got wrong-footed like this one.

Pant has kept well to Ashwin so far  ... even though Ash is getting some turn and bounce.
