Top scorer in our two World Cup wins of the century,a fact that doesnt get highlighted enough

Could have had a longer ODI career with his ability to bat against spin and willingness to play in the middle order, however he left his mark in his time at the top and a career he can be proud of

Being a Delhi lad, Had a privilege Watching him bat, before His rise to ranks, he looked a special talent even then, that 2008 Delhi team was a very good team with him sehwag Chopra Kohli Dhawan ishant etc, the guy was a clutch player in big finals be it 07 wt20 or 11 wc or the draw game in Napier in 2009,him and sehwag were site to behold together

Yes in popular media I agree. I think this gets highlighted enough among the hardcore cricketing fan base like the ICF coumminity and other places.

People would think MSD singlehandedly won these finals etc. but Gambhir is the man :hatsoff:

He went through a low after 2011 high got carried away after KKR captaincy to be honest his form was going down and became a pokemon like you said somewhere he faded away after 2011 when he should have moved up the ladder.

He was the best batsman even in the South Africa tour in end of 2010.

India is a batting nation. Yes we have produced few good ODI bowlers but they wont feature in top 10. The list above is the top 10 best ODI players ever from India and it happens to be all of them are batsmen (except Kapil)

When he was playing cricket. Others around played politics. Now he will play poltics and lets see how others around react.

:police: I am certain that He will do miles better job in Rajya Sabha then our Sachin

Sachin wanted to change the world but just couldn’t stand the dirty politicians who didn’t let him focus as he is good at everything he tries. That explains the low attendance :((

Thanks Gauti!

He seemed so focussed when in full flow. A fantastic career, with WC'07, WC'11, Ranji'07 and IPLs in his kitty.:hatsoff:

He had a bit of Inzi in him, when it came to running between the wickets; his running during the 2011 QF is now hilarious in hindsight, but was bloody nerve-wracking when the game was on.

Hope he continues his bold and honest approach in his new endeavours.

Was such a gutsy & clutch player .Was instrumental in India achieving so many important results. 2 world cup final knocks, NZ series win,SAF drawn series all comes to mind. Thanks Gautam . You will always be remembered  for your services to Indian cricket.

On a side note, always felt he deserved a bit more chances.
