Trichromatic
They are batting as if they are on SA greentop. Usually teams score 100-110 runs in 32 overs. 80-90 runs when bowling is good. Short by 30 runs and we are in situation where one wicket will bring aussies on top. Not really going ahead atm. Switchblade, King Tendulkar, Laaloo and 1 other 1 1 2 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Yes lot of full balls with no movement were absolutely wasted. Past scars may be. But still bad balls should be punished. Link to comment
nitinbwj
Absolutely !!! 61-1 at less than 2rpo. WTF !!!! Link to comment
nitinbwj
2.6 to 2.8 and 3.00 at the close of play would have been ideal. Link to comment
wanted_desi
Oz are hardly giving gaps to work with. Link to comment
Insidious
Because when we tried to play positive on similar turf in Adelaide, we were 120/6. Laaloo, nevada, cowboysfan and 1 other 4 Link to comment

When did that happen? We scored 19 runs in 10 overs, 40 runs in 20 overs and 86 in 37 overs there. Run rate never crossed 2.5 there either. Link to comment

fineleg
You are expecting too much @Trichromatic and @vvvslaxman This is not a settled lineup of Sehwag and Gambhir. This is one MA trying to overcome a debut (which is nervous even if in India, this is in Australia!!!) a naturally slow player Pujara and a Vihari who is makeshift opener. Thats why. Captain
Ideally, we could be playing a bit faster. But, i'd take 240-2 by the end of the day over 300-5. Link to comment

sandeep
I watched all of the first session, Vihari got stuck in Aakash Chopra mode, Agarwal batted positively. Just got home and haven't watched the 2nd session yet, but I think its fair to be patient here, hold the criticism if these 2 fail to kick on. But not yet. Its test cricket after all. nevada 1 Link to comment
maniac
Bowling had been tight as well and Lyon is bowling a negative line. Link to comment
Nonbeliever
I will call it a brilliant start. Most of the batsman after these 2 play faster. Needed a solid start after peeth test. Link to comment
Khota
This is not about run rate. It is about playing 4 sessions. Link to comment
Deleted_User_1
Not ideal, but I’d take this over few wickets down. Run rate is creeping up a bit. India need to bat Aussies out of the match in the 1st innings if possible. This wicket is not going to have a lot of demons. nevada 1 Link to comment

I think since we have a group of 140+ Bowlers we are becoming like Pakistan fans blaming things on batting. Yes our bowling is leagues ahead of our batting at the moment. However the 2nd test at Perth was lost due to the opening spell and that 100+ partnership. Similarly, If we let Aussies get away in their 1st innings, we will be right back under the pump. Nikhil_cric
I get the concern but run rate is of secondary importance considering the failures of our batsmen on away tours. Just want them to bat 5 sessions and have Australia on their knees. Link to comment
