Pollack Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 What does team management see in bhuvi. His stats are damn mediocre and he never sets the stage on fire in LOI even at his best. When he is bowling well he is just economical. Why not Shami in place of Bhuvi in playing eleven? Dis cuss OpeningBatsman, Cricket_Hacker, sandeep and 3 others 3 1 2
vvvslaxman Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 SHoulder effort is not there or something is missing. He is not able to extract the same zip like others even though his release speed is higher. Ishant sharma would have thoroughly enjoyed this wicket. Temujin Khaghan 1

Phelu with much slower speed extract much better from the surface. Bhuvi just floats the ball rather than hitting the hard length. Bumrah was far more of a threat than Bhuvi. Adi BB and bahubali 2

Even on bouncy pitch Bhuvi has to really pitch short to extract bounce. All the other bowlers extracted bounce from a good length. May be his bowling style, release style is not allowing him to do that.
Vilander Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 not sure what happened today, seems to have bowled fast - but what happened in the initial overs. His last over was good.

Speed guns are so deceptive. They just show the release speed I reckon. If you watch some bowlers, its obvious the ball travels through quicker and zips through more than others even though speedometer shows otherwise. You just need to see how the batsmen play and react than just go with speed guns. Quick bowlers have a tendency to hurry the batsmen. There was an ocean of difference between Bumrah and Bhuvi today even though speed guns showed them bowling at almost the same speed. bahubali 1

Speed guns an be wrong, yes, like many times they are not perfect, but what you mentioned isn't a way to judge the speed. Unless you are looking from a side angle from a spider cam or something, then you can judge. Because on tv, the balls being bowled a full or below good length height, won't look as fast regardless of the bowler. Odd one will look faster and you can differentiate like a quick short ball etc, but generally a regular ball on the stumps or below good length will not tell you how fast it is, and hence batsmen reaction won't give you any indication. Unless you have side angle view, thats the best view you can have to judge the speed.
G_B_ Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 did a pretty decent job today imo mancalledsting and beetle 2
maniac Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Knuckle bowler is at best a 3rd seamer. Has done nothing to deserve a slot ahead of Shami bahubali 1

Adi BB Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Disappointing first spell today with the new ball when there was a lot of movement off the pitch .bhuvi has to bend his back to extract bounce or try to get movement off the air by pitching it up but he wasnt doing either today . He was more on the conservative side Mosher 1

Bhuvi may be a good no 8 batsman 20 years back. He cannot strike the ball hard. Doesn't matter if you have proper technique for this position. One should know how to use the long handle like Harbhajan, Zaheer, Srinath, Agarkar etc. bahubali 1
Nikhil_cric Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 He bowled OK. We need a 6'3" + seamer to partner bumrah. Bhuvi is not a bad bowler but is just too floaty most of the time. In NZ, he was hitting the deck somewhat and even Mike hesson pointed it out on commentary. Guess he'll never be strong enough to do that on a consistent basis.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 He is floating the ball at 90mph... I mean wtf.. That's like being practicing celibacy inside the playboy mansion. What's the use of bowling at that speed if you don't hit it hard on the pitch. Rightarmfast 1
