Ankit_sharma03 Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 True self assesment sandeep, philcric, nevada and 2 others 1 4
zen Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I would put it at around 5-6/10 too, considering that he is opening in ODIs after a long time or intermittently, and with Ind batting first. For an experienced/regular opener, the marks for a 50 of a 70+ balls inning would be lower
kubrickian Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 He is being humble. 3 wickets in first 10 overs in overcast conditions and things would have gone sideways quite quickly for India with Shankar(noobie) and Jadhav(who is not in the best of nick) to come. Gave a solid start which ensured a big total. coffee_rules and bahubali 2
kubrickian Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Being asked to open out of the blue against Pak in WC is never easy. bahubali and Nikola 2
Gollum Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I rate his performance 9/10, only Rohit scores higher among the batsmen. He is being too hard on himself. bahubali and coffee_rules 2
Sgattick10 Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Fair enough, he fielded well except that drop in the end but overall a good performance. bahubali 1
vvvslaxman Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I would give a 7. He played Amir with no issues. His trigger movements were good. Not lunging. Apart from few nibbles he was good.
WeStMiDz Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 So much more to come. Good thing he is in good nick. Something special is coming.

Pandya_Power Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Looks in good touch. There was a phase after the 15th over mark when I felt that he could have rotated the strike or even taken the attack to the spinners. He used to pay 2 dot balls beofre rtating the strike on the thrid ball to a guy like Imad and was blocking pre-meditatively. He can easily take over from Shikar before the next WC. Needs to be mindful of his strike rate afetr he has settled down. As I said in the other thread, he has the game to murder short pitched bowling and that makes him a very good limited over top order option. bahubali 1
diehardpacer Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Could have been more aggressive against spinners.More strike rotation.I would rate 7 .
Vijy Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 would give him a 7.5 or even an 8. Amir is not the same level as during his fixer phase, but he knows how to trouble Ind top and middle order. I think rahul did a good job of negating him and was actually beginning to accelerate quite well before losing his wkt. bahubali 1
Forward Defence Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Give us a couple of 8 or 9 s Rahul and we will win the cup
coffee_rules Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 8/10 deserving opener slot as a 3rd option in this WC. bahubali 1
SK_IH Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 (edited) he played well and to plan it seems, played the most pleasant shot of the day against Hafeez but once again it seemed he was keeping himself within bounds. I want to see him play at his best once in this world cup, it would be a great sight Edited June 18, 2019 by SK_IH bahubali 1

Nikhil_cric Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 He has set high standards for himself. That is great to see. Now just needs to start realising his potential in both formats. bahubali 1
Gollum Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Can't believe Kohli preferred Rayudu over KLR, 50+ matches for that clown while Rahul was sidelined bahubali, Pandya_Power, coffee_rules and 1 other 1 3
