It will always be the easy targets- jadeja, pandya and even bowlers like ashwin but in India questions hardly will be raised on rahane, pujara (whose inconsistency overseas has been the biggest issue) even when Rohit, dhawan continously failed in test overseas someone like gavaskar said dhawan was wrongly dropped. Ganguly famously flipped on his own statement when 1st he questioned rohit overseas credentials and then said he was unfairly dropped after an year .

What? Ever since Rahane was dropped in 2018, the two of them have played every away series with a sword hanging over them. Them being criticized doesn't make news as they are not superstars but after every series loss, they do cop a lot of blame - 2018 SA, Eng, 2020 NZ or the 36 all out fiasco.

The one time they had an opportunity to play without the toxic and obnoxious leadership, they did rally the troops together to produce the biggest ever test achievement in our history. How I wish they had got one full series in Eng/SA/NZ  without the clown in the team. Despite technical deficiencies in their batting, they would have combined to produce the Australia like magic. But that ship has sailed. Time has come to move on and give more opportunities to Mayank, Rahul, Sundar, Iyer or any other young player.

Rahane gets unnecessary hate..  He has literally carried our fragile middle order in this WTC cycle.

I am pretty sure if Kohli had scored that MCG ton or that quickfire Gabba cameo his fans would declare him to be best thing since sliced bread.

Rahane has been average still but Kohli has minnow level stats meanwhile & less said about Pujara the better.  These two are automatic picks in our test side tells us a lot about our batting.

Rahane gets bashed coz he is still mighty unreliable. As a senior player that is not expected. Rahane was consistent only for a very small phase.

I am a rabid Rahane hater, so I ll to justify the criticism hurled at Rahane. He has been playing international cricket since 2013 & you still can't depend on him to win you a tour or series with prolific batting. He has been hailed far too long for his one off performances overseas. In early part of his career it was ok to be playing based on those number but not when you 70 plus tests old & still come up with those inconsistent one off performances.

The likes of Kohli & Pujara, when they are in form or were in form, dominated complete series, consistently scoring runs. These are kinds of performances which benefit the team not just the individual. Kohli & Pujara may be on decline but they have had their share of such series, which Rahane can only dream of.

Rahane's meek surrender against Wagner in the last NZ he played & in first innings here is typical of the Rahane the batsman. We have seen his best & his best is no where good enough to continue playing for Indian team.

its not unnecessary

Rahane does the hard work of handling conditions but then throws it away in most stupid ways ever

What Manjrekar said on Jadeja was something ICF has been saying forever. Only difference was the timing. Jadeja in LoI’s has been hit or miss for some one who has had a 12 year career. He had a purple patch in 2013 then back to mediocrity and again in 2020-2021 had a couple of good performances.

Manjrekar has been the only commentator who at times has raised uncomfortable questions.

His Pakistan pandering and his constant negativity overshadows some good input he gives.

Well Manju is not entirely wrong about Jaddu, it's that after his criticism, Jaddu scored against NZ in SF and that's where he got ahead against Manju. Otherwise Jaddu had been average in ODIs before that & there were many thread about it on ICF,too. In tests, I don't know why he is behind Jaddu..
