Is there any valid reason why Kohli didn't bat in the Warmup game?

Played T20s, ODIs, .... Warm ups should ideally be more useful for those who haven’t played much in NZ and are expected to be a part of the 11

But he could have batted instead of someone like Saha, if he was going to be on the bench

Nope, playing LOIs is totally different from tests. It's not as if we have 3 warmups like previous generation tours, it's just one. He is not a machine to switch from one format to another without practice.

One answer - arrogance. All the humility he tries to portray in media interviews is FAKE, deep down the guy is the most arrogant and insecure player we have had in recent times.

Even in today’s match presentation after the big defeat, his highness was sporting a blue jacket, not in whites. Kane Williamson was in the whites as it should be.

Kohli and Bumrah need to be brought back down to earth. Like drop them or show them they are not indispensable. Sachin or Kumble never needed this. But these guys neednto be reminded.

I feel Bumrah is saving himself for the IPL. Australia can keep Mitchell Starc on the bench, why can't India drop Bumrah? Captain Wrogn is a certified choker. All talk with nothing to back it up. This fool has been given carte blanche to ruin Indian cricket.

There was no need for him to play the last 2 T20s and last ODI. He could have rested then and played the warm ups. But hey, Pant had to be kept out at all costs. Arrogance will always come back to bite you no matter how big a player you are. If you think you are bigger than the game, the game has a way of showing you wrong.

The reason he succeeded in England last time was that he had to prove others wrong and he prepared with such passion for the series. Now he took this series for granted and see what happened

Word! It became glaringly obvious Saha was going to be on the bench because once he got going in the second innings and was breezing towards a run-a-ball 50, they promptly agreed to call an early draw to avoid any selection headaches - I mean WTF!?!??
