Nikola Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) What's use of this dude in our batting lineup? In his 11+ year of odi career he has just one match winning half century with bat. Pretty avg with bowl as well. Why not pick someone who can bowl better than him? Probably biggest scam since 1992? Edited November 27, 2020 by Nikola
asterix Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 He’s a confidence giver... the moral booster you need in your team... Somebody who gives the feeling of a “utility player” in all departments but whether he’s or not could be debatable... AuxiliA 1

Maybe fielding yes. asterix 1
SK_IH Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) The point is he is not a no.7 batsman. His futility in that role has been witnessed umpteenth time. The debate about his match winning or losing abilities end there. He can be a good option if he can bat @5 successfully. Edited November 27, 2020 by SK_IH
Stan AF Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 By far the longest running scam in INDIAN cricket. nevada and Nikola 1 1
chewy Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 This is pointless thread. India philosophy was always to back its top 5 to win games especially chasing. Everytime the top 5 flops guys like Jadeja get criticised. How about the lack of six hitting ability of Kohli, Dhawan and Lokesh to hit sixes on this tiny SCG ground. If India management didn't have confidence in their top 5 then they to setup blueprint to pick batsmen who bowl abit. Current India batting blueprint isn't made for chasing big scores. Gollum Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) More than his batting his bowling returns go unnoticed. The rate at which he is going, that ODI bowling avg will soon touch 40. Since last year or so his bowling figures read like 0/59, 1/70, 0/64 ......no impact, just goes through the motions. Our spin attacks in both shorter formats are too weak. My question is about his intent while batting. I can easily remember many matches where he played without any intent which he could have possibly won if he would have played more positively.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 TBH match was lost before he came in but he costed pandya wkt again chewy 1

express bowling Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) We need 5 bowling options in ODIs The 5th bowler must have batting ability. In this squad, we don't have any other such player. Edited November 27, 2020 by express bowling chewy and Mosher 2
The Realist Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Now that Dhoni has retired, Jadeja is the embodiment of Process > Results in the team. A decade of underachievement yet still a regular, somehow. Can a younger player not do what he does instead? At least there would be potential for growth
Gollum Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Is a much bigger liability in shortest format. Sunk our campaign in 2009 WT20, anda in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016....next 2 years 2 more T20 WCs.
Sean Bradley Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 If anything he's a Gun Fielder and that ends there, hit or Miss with both Bat & Bowl, Can do well in Indian Conditions but should be no where near the Boarding Teams on overseas tours. Probably it's his fielding abilities and a rocket arm that's holds him the place in the Playing XI, he's a lottery with Bat or Ball otherwise. The TM is always willing to take that risk with him, has always been the blue eyed boy of Dhoni and now Kohli.

Real McCoy Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 He is a Harbhajan level batter. his batting exploits are overblown to a huge extent. His 50s should be treated just like Harbhajan's back in the day. He is a decent no.8 but needs to be more productive with the ball which he is not in foreign conditions. He has no.8 in his jersey. Somebody should have made the connection
Suhaan Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 See him as a kryptonite and don't get him near our LOI side
Majestic Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 "A specialist fielder who can bat a bit and bowl a bit." Time to tune into whoever Sanjay Manjarekar is giving his analysis. I am sure he will bring in that thing.
