Net bowlers + a newcomer have bowled out Aussies under 400

After so many drops, after Saini injury, without Kuldeep. We could have had them under 250.

 

This unit is no worse than our 2000s bowling attack, this 3rd-4th string attack!!!! Our bowling strength and depth is great, ATG WI level......may not have that quality/quantity of quicks but Kuldeep, Nadeem would be first choice spinners in all teams except India, Australia.

Yep, seen many a "first choice" attack go for a lot more in such conditions.

No doubt.   Great bowling effort by our depleted C team.  Hats off to Nattu.   Having said that, this is the most pace friendly pitch u will ever get in Australia.   Don't see India crosing 200 here.   Would to happy to be proved wrong though.

Again, fielding has let the bowlers done. But despite all that, great effort from the rookies,all of whom started their test career in this series!

India needs to absolutely create specialists for slip cordon.. can’t just put the weakest runners there anymore. You got bowlers who can get the nicks, train some fielders who can catch them. My vote goes to Gill, Rohit, Rahane, Mayank/Rahul. They’re certainties in the team and safe catchers too. Jadeja can prowl along the field and Lolli being the worst catcher should be fielded at third man or fine leg.

Rahane and Pujara are pretty avg/below avg catchers against fast bowling plus they are ageing. 

 Gill, Rohit are good choices. Need to see if some of the fast bowlers/spinners can catch better and employ them at slips like Warne/anderson.

More importantly, slip catching should also become a barometer of selection like fielding.

But tbf Rohit dropped one or 2 or bumrah but they are best friends. Bumrah was pissed but he din't say anything.

The Aussie team we played in 1999 had Blewett-Slater as openers, rookie Langer at #3 and Mark Waugh at #4. Pretty sure Warner, Labu too would have made that XI. 

 

For most of 90s Aussies had these Blewetts and Elliotts in their top order, very mediocre.

I will go a step ahead and say this is a better unit that 90s and on par with 2000s bowling attack.

Warner? Green? 

Thing is, this Aussie team is supposed to be world beaters in this age, and they are playing against an attack which is almost C to D grade of ours. They can only play against what is presented to them. And I think you are confusing the 2000 batting strength of Aussie with 90's batting. They were different.
