Varun. C didnt comeup the rank from a proper system so it was always going to be an issue as far as fitness test are concerned but one guy can be easily hided in the field. Under dhoni we hid new bumrah and then nehra g , yuvi (declined version) also.

Neways whats the point of this fitness we have so many guys like kohli, dhawan, iyer and chahal dropping so many catches.

We lost the X factor n fielding remained a concern

maybe doing a SL (Mendis).

pull the Joker card in the World Cup it self.

Giving international teams no time to prepare. Obviously they will have IPL footage to study him but still different then facing him.

What is the point of fitness when the primary expectation from him is to bowl 4 overs and get quick wickets with his mystery deliveries

Totally agree that the supposedly most fit players drop catches.. Lolli's priorities are totally misaligned

Madness if we don't play him in the WC, can easily win the cup on his own. Nobody can pick him, disgraceful that they are using fitness card to keep an X-factor player like him out of action.

That too he is a spinner, and not a pace bowler. Having the same fitness requirements for different roles is plain dumb when you don't have Bumrah, Nattu, & Jaddu.

Once they start making exception for one player,. Everyone wants to be that exception and it will push the team back 20 years. What has dropping catches got to do with fitness. Anyone can drop catches. If Chakrvarthy wants to play for India he better buckle up and get fit.

If Chahal can pass that test, it should not be hard to pass.

Valid point on exceptions.

But in cricket different players have different roles. A fast bowler need to be able to run in quick, batsmen need to to run quick between the wickets. The fitness levels needed to achieve these aren't same for a spin bowler who might not be required to bat much, fitness level needed to sustain a T20 game is not the same as whats required for Test match.

Why don't we have a fitness test that matches your role?

There's got to be a bare minimum though, right?  Maybe this was it, and fast bowlers have higher bars to clear.

Don’t know about additional bars. If that’s the case, it may make sense.

Varun doesn't have six packs, no tattoos and is better educated than our King Clown. Naturally clown hates him from deep within. I do hope VC takes it out on VK and shames him in the IPL and celebrates wildly on his face.

Varun's case aside, high time some younger player stood upto this perpetual bully and showed him his place. Enough damage done to our cricket. He can go and make clownish faces in bollywood movies.
