rangeelaraja Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 (edited) Having a team low on all-round talent or bowling or batting abilities can still win big tournaments and knockout matches BUT...when alot of the team have self doubt about their spot in the XI, when they lack trust in the captain or merit based selection policies, it vitiates the entire atmosphere in the dressing room. Our team looks divided - it reflects in their body language. Is this an overreaction from 1 loss in T20 ? No. I think we have had notions of this for a while. Even a win against Kiwis on Sunday ( which I do not expect quite frankly - our bowling is a holy mess ) , will not change my perspective. I think we will lose to Kiwis on Sunday and hopefully that will usher in some drastic long term decisions leading up to the 50 over WC in India. I think going forward the LOI and Test Captain must be different - England and Australia have gotten this dead right. The fact that BCCI under Ganguly's watch ( supposedly a "contemporary" cricketer ) - was okay with 1 individual captain of an IPL team + Test team + ODI Team + T20I team - shows that they totally lack any sense of control over the captain. cricketfan28 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I think we are okay .. we will go to the semis.
Sgattick10 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Yeah more or less. ODIs we will do well in India but in T20 we're ancient
sandeep Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Given the tactical leadership, selection policy, and overall form - I have stated my lower than low expectations for this T20 WC, well before the tournament started for India. But I will never 'give up' on this team. Win, lose or draw.
putrevus Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 There is nothing wrong with any tactical aspect from Kohli's captaincy in shorter formats especially for India. It is Kohli the batsman who failed Kohli the captain in big spots in odis. When you are saddled with one of the most unbalanced squads, you do the best you can as a captain.

The onus of that falls on Kohli. He and other seniors should have been rested in meaningless series. Switched the order around to give middle order game time. Instead he and rohit waste balls set base and score big and flounder at key matches. In every game he goes with reputation and past performance rather than form or people suited for condition. He has no clarity and changes thought.:: in england series it was all about batting depth and scoring fast.. that went down the drain. Who will open ? In wtc under cloud he plays two spinners and then says we will always play with four seamers. if hardik is key then develop other players. He expects lower order folks to bat at 300 percent in every match while he scores a run a ball fifty and on good days a 150 sr 80. AuxiliA, Norman, beetle and 1 other 2 2

Lord Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 too much overreaction over one defeat where toss is deciding factor

Captain job is to use the players as best as possible. If Pandya was so great he could have gone to his IPL team and asked them permission to open or play in top order the innings and do it for one season. Pandya for last five years has not evolved one bit and it is not captain's fault.Test team instantly became better once Pandya was out .It is foolish to think guys like Pandya will do something great. He does not expect anything from any lower middle order that is why Rohit and himself are the main batsmen and also their finishers. They both have kept this team afloat. His selection mistakes are amplified as he is stuck with squad with bowlers who cannot bat.His option of playing two spinners in WTC is a direct result of that unbalance. He is the greatest Asian test captain and he reformed retreads and made them into one of most successful fast bowling unit. Is he tactically the best no but I don't think that is his main problem.Kohli himself failing as a batsman is his main captaincy problem. His shelf life of being a captain has reached its end.He should be let go as a captain from all formats.

I do 100% believe the first game loss won't happen again if we face Pakistan. sandeep 1
Try_Ball Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) Poor selection / Internal favoritism needs to end. Captaincy is going away and I really hope that ends the buffoonery that Kohli bought in as a captain where he would continue to back his blind picks and ignore any logic whatsoever Dravid as a headcoach hopefully would put an end to the big ego's out there during selection process and I don't mind India losing to NZ and getting knocked out on group stages if it puts free loaders like hardik Pandya / Krunal Pandya and all these passengers out of contention for the Indian team spot again and deserving talent such as Shreyas / Shardul / V Iyer start getting more time in the team - Small hicups are fine - Rather lose now than in the next WC Edited October 29, 2021 by Try_Ball
vvvslaxman Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 This is probably one of the worst Indian team to stage a come back once things go wrong. It is almost a point of no return.
nitinbwj Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Yes and I don't even care about the WC. It's over for us anyways. When Kohli is booted out, we can hope for some good performances by players. Kohli and management is cancer.. Slowly eating away Indian Cricket.
nevada Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Even if the captain is changed, if we continue the policy of carrying a bunch of passengers in the X1, it won't make any difference to the results. Currently, in T20, we have 2 confirmed passengers in Pandya, Jaddu. Kohli is washed up and is another passenger. KL and Rohit can go boom in an odd game or two but are mostly circumspect until reaching a "safe" score even on roads full of runs and wet the bed when the ball is swinging. They are like half a passenger each, which makes for a total of 4 passengers on the team with guaranteed spots. That's just too many! These issues will likely remain even after captaincy change, so it is just a symbolic gesture unless performance culture is adopted and meaningful changes are made.

raki05 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 till the time players play on past reputation and persona created in fake biletrals we are done. Bhuvi, pandya, kohli ,shami doesn't deserve place in t20 on current form to some extent sharma but we need atleast one senior so we can keep him. In odi as well all these budhhas needs to be kicked out prepare a team soon after tournament and not one month before or in tourament itslef like we did in 2019. prepare one backup of each crucial position as with improved domestic and ipl you have so many players coming in. Develop a young left arm quick and out an out spinner, try to devlevlop allrounders with potential and not fake allrounders who have enrolled/graduated from Fake allrounder institutes of Pandyas academy.

But let's not pretend we'd have lost bowling first. Everyone was happy with same team selection when it was announced figo6762 1
