They are done, if Gill and Iyer start scoring runs.

Will be interesting to see the difference in innings scores as a result of dropping them both. Im confident of at least 50+ extra runs.

yes, on indian pitches we will see a tangible difference.

Yes. lol. See what i mean. Rahane's poor home record wwas even used to promote his selection for overseas tour. They would often show the stats of home/away record of various batsmen and say  Rahane is our best overseas specialist. Sure that ratio is a valuable tool if the home record is decent if not extraordinary.

I compared the home tests where both Jadeja and Rahane played. 28 tests.

this list shows many things that have now been forgotten. peak Brat and peak Chepu were outstanding in home conditions. Rohit and Mayank were, and continue to be, outstanding in home conditions. Pant should have gotten more home games. and last, but not least, shaw was discarded too soon in home conditions.

Rahane’s turn to score a shoonya this round, against Odisha and Pujara gets a 50 in the second innings against Goa!

The die had been cast in england where Shardul and Bumrah looked more comfortable in playing English seamers than Pujara and Rahane. I have no damn idea why Rahane was still persisted after Oval test as he failed miserably on the flattest pitch of the tour in both thhe innings..

because of "senior" privileges. Old men get pension long after they are done

Shastri should have been given the boot after wtc final. Not even drawing that match should have been the final straw. We would have had Dravid taking over the England tour and he wouldn't have breached the bubble for his book release like an idiot. The tour would have completed with 3-1 and Dravid getting a good look at Purane across 5 matches to determine that they're done

Desperate times for Old Man Pujara:

Sussex have signed up Cheteshwar Pujara as the overseas batter for the upcoming season of the County Championship and the One-Day Cup. The Indian Test batter - who recently lost his spot for the home fixtures against Sri Lanka - has been drafted in as a replacement for Travis Head, with the Australian requesting to be released from his contract due to increased international commitments and his partner expecting their first child.

Pujara, who was part of Chennai Super Kings during last year's IPL, went unsold this time round, and is free to join up with Sussex in time for the first County game of the season - against Nottinghamshire at home from April 7 - and will also be part of the 50-over domestic competition.

"I am excited and honoured to be a part of the historic Sussex County Cricket Club for the upcoming season," Pujara said. "I do look forward to joining up with the Sussex family soon and be a part of its rich cricketing history. Over the years I have always enjoyed my time in the UK playing county cricket, so eagerly looking forward to the new stint and hope to contribute to the club's success."

Pujara has previously flopped in County Cricket with Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

how these two mediocre batsmen got such a long rope.. At home, Shreyas has already had more impact than Rahane ever did in last 5 years

Bold is important.

Pant at 5 and Shreyas at 6 can set the cat among the pigeons in most test matches. And this is exactly what we need in the lower middle order.

We need atleast one among  Gill / Shaw in the top order too.

only in home Tests though. Overseas we need someone who can provide stability against moving ball.

Pant has proved himself in test matches in almost every country.

It is possible that Shreyas will do too.

Currently I don't see any great batsman of swing bowling in India anyway.

The TM and BCCI need to also give Iyer peace of mind and give him multiple opportunities to succeed as they did with Rahane and Pujara.

Iyer has the game in him to dominate.

This is the last match of Sachin Tendulakr in ranji Trophy. Match winning knock. 2013.  He played a first class match 24 years after he made Test debut.  You think Kohli will ever play a Ranji match?

Thanks for that.

Note that SRT's 2nd innings guided the team to a win too.

Yes I remember watching that match there was a huge amount of coverage since it was his last Ranji game and just before his farewell series vs Windies. All the young players were in awe to play with him
