Both pappus aren't the same. One is just a BCCI Babu, while other is a top Prime ministerial candidate and the leader of opposition.

One Pappu is sitting as a Top Brass of the richest cricket board in the world while his father is a Home minister of the Ruling party of the country, other Pappu, is harmless and not a threat to anyone. How much of corruption and how much of BCCI revenue is getting leaked and going to BJP party fund, I can only imagine the kind of harm the Shah Father and Son duo are causing to the country and its rich cricket heritage.

BCCI has always been ruled by the central govt. Funny how certain people are only seeing the problem now. I bet most people wouldn't know or care who the BCCI's Secretary was before current pappu. And speaking of corruption, do you have any evidence or is it just whatsApp theories?

Also the other Pappu is way more influential. He's the supreme leader of the 2nd largest political party of India, controls the entire narrative of the opposition and is most likely our future Prime Minister. The BCCI pappu is a small fish in comparison.

One pappu will be replaced by another pappu. Congress tool Rajiv Shukla will be just as bad, or some guy like Snake Manohar (Pawar gang). Moreover Indian sports administration is a big joke, one family controlled (directly/indirectly) Indian tennis for 60+ years which saw us from competing for Davis Cup championship titles and QFs/SFs of singles slams to getting pasted by random African and Asian countries. Amarinder's son has finished Indian shooting in one term (see our achievements in the 2006-12 period), less we talk about Indian hockey the better. Compared to all the other clown bodies we have, Indian cricket is still better. If you guys have an inkling of what happens in hockey, boxing, weightlifting, wrestling, chess etc. pagla jaoge. At least be happy that we have one board in cricket with one Pres/GSec/CEO, doubly happy that our BCCI top bosses don't frame our own players in doping jhamela to get their favs ahead.

Cricket administration must be a lot better but change isn't isolated. Can't expect 1st world standards in a 3rd world country, in any area for that matter...sports ho ya sanitation!!!!

Key issue is in India there is a culture of deifying political leaders film hero's sport hero's etc. Since Hindu deity is in itself is loosely defined , everyone can be worshipped. This means people don't question politicians, this trend is increasing in western nations were Indians make a big enough electorate.

This has nothing do with Indians or Hindus in the West, idol worship is a prominent thing in many Western societies! Especially places like US -

One can criticize the nepotism angle or something substantive about how he is helping run the BCCI, but judging someone's ability to run an organization by their ability to speak English?  70+ years on, holdover colonial attitudes persist.

yes, true. nepotism and bad selections can be criticized, but knowledge of english is not a prime criterion (it is however, a secondary criterion). I can writeth shakespearean english, but to what avail?
