There is a bit of  history here on why such daring shots were never tried. Yes, most club cricketers and even the ones who come from Ranji, Pakistan, or Windies to play in USA end up not trying that shot as historically the outfield has been really bad in countries like USA where they do  not maintain the grass of a cricket field. When  club players try  play that kind of shot,  the ball doesn't even go past 30 yard circle on some of the fields, because there is too much grass.  

 

This is one of the reasons why club cricketers have gotten used to playing aerial shots than trying to look elegant. Again, what Tendulkar does above might not be even done by other international cricketers at times, but you get the jist of it that anything which looks like a punch, be it backfoot or even drive shot, its hard to see a club cricketer in North America playing it on regular basis due to the conditions they have grown playing cricket. in.
