Texan Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Which part of our wins over England did you enjoy the most? For me, the best part about our wins were the lower order runs. For far too long... over many many years, we have been at the receiving end of our opponents' tail-enders hanging around and putting up big partnerships. Payback was long overdue and what a payback we have given! In each of our wins, the lower order contributed significant runs, which helped us win. Lower order runs are very crucial since you would generally have bowlers who are tired and the ball is old - ideal time to capitalize and we did it in style. Hope we can continue this momentum! sandeep, Temujin Khaghan, tweaker and 1 other 4
fineleg Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) ^ The above, and winning Madras Test without much from Kohli, ChePu and Vijay in batting, and Ashwin taking a grand 0 wickets in 2nd Innings (and 1 wicket in first inn?). All the super stars and secondary stars had an off test (law of averages etc)... The soldiers (KLR, Karun Nair, Jaddu and fast bowlers) did not relent and did the demolition act. Bravo! NEW FIND OF SERIES: Jayant Yadav (and somewhat Karun Nair too) FLOP OF SERIES: Amit Mishra (pappu batting was good, keeping bad) Having couple of NEW FINDS in a Test series is good, instead of same recycling we do with previous Test teams. Injuries were a blessing in disguise chance for youngsters. Edited December 21, 2016 by fineleg tweaker and sandeep 2
prinzo Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 For me it was the new player KK Nair that will cause selection headaches for India which is a good thing tweaker 1
Texan Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 Another good thing is that Kohli has junked the theory about never changing a winning 11. Horses for courses it is and it does not matter if you were part of the winning 11 but don't fit in. MCcricket, tweaker and sandeep 3

I am so thankful that I dont have to hear MSD parrot - "we are playing the same 11, unchanged" match after match after match after match. Thats when I created the moniker Mule Singh Dhoni which got popular here. Edited December 21, 2016 by fineleg tweaker, MCcricket and Bystander 3
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 1.We won on good pitches 2.Won with so many injuries 3. Made the toss excuse irrelevant 4.Came back after being dominated by opp in 1st test 5. Stepping up of youngsters like Nair n Yadav, their perfomance have infact put the spot of permanent members in doubt 6. Kohli the batsman 7. Parthiv patel the package- 2nd wk , backup opener. This package can allow to add more variety in squad when we travel overseas 8. R.I.P test career of some below avg over-hyped players like - Dhawan, Rohit, Mishra SecondSlip, express bowling and Bystander 3
coffee_rules Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 We beat them in DRS as well. Comms like Naseer would start first to point out whenever India got howlers that DRS could be used. Kohli still needs to consult the team before reviewing, sometime he would jump.
G_B_ Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 good pitches, england won 4 tosses and DRS no moaning from england.... express bowling 1

tweaker Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Most pleasing part also was the team spirit. Everyone was positive until we got the last wicket. There were no shoulder dropping & players going through their routine. The team looked good together, everyone was enjoying each other success. Only player I would like to replace from this squad is Amit Mishra. sandeep, Mosher and MCcricket 3
Popular Post rkt.india Posted December 21, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 21, 2016 Seeing Shami bowling the way he did, improved accuracy from Umesh while putting 100% despite playing all 5 tests and still bowling quick to unsettle batsmen on the last day 3rd session. express bowling Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Winning against England on flat pitches/ neutral pitches which gave India the least advantage that is possible in India. Our fast bowlers Shami and Umesh combining ( high pace + accuracy + good bouncers ) and sustaining pace in every session. Winning 4-0 despite losing 4 tosses Kohli becoming much more consistent in test matches, not playing loose shots and scoring big hundreds. Kohli's will to win every match and doing what it takes to achieve that. Kumble's effectiveness as coach and trying to improver existing players rather than saying that they are professionals and know what to do Bangar improving our batsmen. Team management trying to mould existing and new cricketers to fit the roles that the team needs. Spinners becoming all-rounders and providing lower order batting depth. Karun Nair and Jayant Yadav DRS Edited December 21, 2016 by express bowling Mosher, nevada, Rightarmfast and 1 other 4
Sachinism Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 So many performers in the team. Practically everyone that played made a good contribution throughout the series. MCcricket 1
goose Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I loved it because the English started their postmortems at the end of the 4th test and then again end of Day 4 in 5th test as if they'd seen it all. 3-0 was probably expected they said. But it just kept getting worse literally till the last ball. We outplayed them in the head. adi B and sandeep 2
SUMO Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 most pleasing part was virat and ash huge respect and admiration for each other... our 2 MVPs express bowling and sandeep 2
jalebi_bhai Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 The two innings defeat we inflicted on them as well as the fact that we lost 4 tosses and still spanked the Poms. I remember my Brit Photography teacher trolling me after the 2011 Test series thrashing. Taklu Pilkington
Cricketics Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Most pleasing for me was to see twice we came out with massive scores and took a big lead after England had put on 400 plus. New players have stepped up like Jayant and Nair when chances have been given to them. Rahul too showed why we can't drop him for now in test. Even after the big score, I want to see more consistency from Rahul and Nair has still lot to prove but both should be in our starting x1 in the next game.
bowl_out Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Most pleasing things for me: - Beating England twice by an innings + runs - Taking toss out of the equation and shutting up naysayers who claim win the toss = win the match - Lower order batting - Winning Chennai test with little effort from Kohli, Vijay, Pujara, Ashwin - aggressive captaincy - someone who is motivational, hungry to win and takes care of his bowlers - new talents in Karun, Jayant, KL - fast bowling (shami's consistency in taking wickets. umesh's improved accuracy) - lastly Cook's broken off stump express bowling 1
mancalledsting Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Our seamers were better than England's We lost so many tosses We won by huge margins exposing alaistair cook Keeping Ben stokes subdued Anderson, woakes performing badly express bowling 1
