Asia Cup squad announced, Rohit to lead.... Khaleel Selected

Recommended Posts

Not surprised at Pandey, Rayudu and Jadhav’s inclusions. Saw it coming. Guess one of them will face the axe when Kohli comes back, the other two will stay.

Jadhav is likely picked as the sixth bowling option in the WC XI

Why Axar? Why does this guy always have to be picked despite doing nothing. Would have liked to see Krunal, Sundar or even Gowtham in his place.

Dhoni again. Less said the better. But looks like we are stuck with him till WC 2019.

Would have also liked liked to see Bumrah rested for a young pacer - Mavi, Nagarkoti or Saini. Why bother your most talented bowler in some useless tour with flat pitches.  Save him for more important ones.

Rohit is not even a consistent performer and here he is made to lead the team. The audacity of BCCI to take fans for a ride. I am gonna list out all the losers in the squad starting with Rohit.

Rohit, Jadhav, Dhoni (seriously), Rayudu, Thakur, Kumar, Axar, Chahal.. No thanks.

Really want to see Khaleel play against UAE infact Bhuvi should have been rested and Siraj should have been playing

Siraj has bowled very poorly in the just concluded 50 over Quadrangular tournament.

Saini has bowled really well along with the selected Khaleel.

Siraj is a test match candidate as of today.

Do you think he will get a chance against Windies at home?

Rohit is not going anywhere till the next WC and few others. I feel he lead us well in the t20 games in South Africa and Srilanka who else should have been named captain if not Rohit ?Don’t want to see Dhoni again in fact he should be asked to retire he is done and dusted and selectors are cowards why not give guys like Pant a chance here even DK is a questionable selection a cameo of 20-30 is not enough you have to score consistently.Likes of Shaw,Mayank,Gill should have been selected like you I also feel this is a meaningless tournament only India vs Pakistan match will draw huge numbers.

Considering the options and need to rest players:

OK: Rohit, Dhawan, Pandey, Dhoni (will be here till WC2019), Karthik, Pandya, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah and Khaleel

Question Marks: Rayudu, Jadhav and Bhuvi

Not Ok: Thakur

Would have liked if Gill and Krunal were included, along with another pace bowler in place of Thakur (and also Bhuvi if options are available). Sunder / Gowtham could have been given an opportunity as well .... could have rested Hardik too

At home we dominate as it is why not give youngster a chance to gain some confidence :(

If I had my way ... I would rotate Siraj, Saini and Rajpoot as the 2 fast bowlers in the 2 tests against the weak West Indies.

Spinners will assume primary responsibility in India ... so, this is possible to execute.

Rajpoot has been really impressive but sadly I see most if them coming into play next year after the WC  if Bcci is keen to build towards the future.

No idea how Thakur makes it to the squad when others are doing better than him.

Saini maybe the best all-condition pacer we have on the bench for test matches.

We must give him some actual game time in tests.

Saini was selected in the squad for the test match against Afghanistan.

But Ishant and Umesh were in the playing 11.

Was he the one who praised Gambhir in his interview and Gambhir taking pot shots at Bedi and co?Actually I confused him with the left arm pacer who played for Rcb thought he was selected.

I think we can still carve out a descent x1 inspite of the selection ....

Rohit

Dhawan

Rahul

Manish

Jadhav

Pandya

Dhoni

Bhuvi

Kuldeep

Chahal

Bumrah

A chance to luk rohit as captain...jadav does not stalls the game and tht is one positive abt it...Indian get the opportunity to fight without kohli...So it will build the team and less dependency on kohli.

This x1 is gud for slow and sluggish pitch in uae

Shocking that Rishabh Pant is still ignored for a format which he is more suited to.

As long as washerman is around, no picking potential long term replacements

Middle Order continues to be a worry. Hope one of Rohit/Rahul acts as an anchor the way Kohli often does. Dhoni doing that role is just a caravan ride from some centuries back.

Pant wont get a look in ODI and T20 matches as long as Dadaji is still there..

This is insane, just because of these proven failures we have lost all world events since 2013 still these brain *ed are continuing with same set of looseers based on their past reputation. Why we are ready to sacrifice world events one after another just to give farewell to an old *ed and some ttf bhaichara brigade.

Why Raydu is in team. Even in first class games he is playing at the SR of 65. Even Dravid was not this slow during his time. This is absolute nouncence to have Pandey,Dadu and Briyani in same lineup.

Well, I said it wasn’t surprising because he was picked for the England tour in the first place and then dropped due to the yo-yo and fitness issues. Just a matter of time before he came back again. He or Jadhav will be preferred over Pandey as they give the sixth bowling option

UAE pitches are not flat or unresponsive.

Nothing quite tells you a side values the art of fast bowling more than picking six seamers for a series on the traditionally placid pitches of the UAE

Khaleel's strength lies in extracting bounce even on docile surfaces - which could come in handy in the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi - and he's got pace too.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the two venues for the 2018 edition and it's a given we will see runs. A lot of them.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first on a Dubai track expected to contain plenty of runs.

if dhoni flops here miserably then pant could get a look in. I am a dhoni fan but would want him to go on a high rather than how ganguly and sehwag were pushed. Dravid had the best exit. wish dhoni can time it out before it gets too late.

for world cup we need 5 solid batsmen two batting all rounders and 1 bowling allrounder and 3 real good bowlers.

Bowlers ( Confirmed Spots) - all 4 to be in squad

Bumrah

Kuldeep

3rd bowler - I feel khaleel or prasiddh would be the best fit

All rounders ( 3 to 4 required) - 4 to be squad

  1. Krunal/ Gowtham
  2. Hardik
  3. Jadeja
  4. Nagarkoti
  5. Shreyas Gopal
  6. Kedar Jadhav

wicketkeeper( 2 in squad)

  1. dhoni
  2. pant

Batsmen- 5 in squad

  1. Rohit
  2. Dhawan
  3. Kohli
  4. KL rahul
  5. Manish Pandey
  6. Dinesh karthik

this should be our core group.
