Gautam Gambhir heavily criticised on Twitter for questioning MS Dhoni’s selection policy

I don't understand why people are criticizing Gambhir. Dhoni is hanging on to his place despite poor form but wanted Gambhir out 3 years ahead of the next world  cup! Dhoni is a big hypocrite and I am glad Gambhir spoke out. https://news.com/sports/cricket/article/gautam-gambhir-heavily-criticised-on-twitter-for-questioning-ms-dhoni-s-selection-policy-during-2012-cb-series-between-india-and-australia/329292

All these are news channel hype. Anything that any player says it's going to have both positive and negative reactions. When it comes to something involving players like Kohli and Dhoni, media simply summarizes the negative reactions to make a news headline. I'm pretty sure there were a good number of tweets supporting Gambhir and lashing out at Dhoni as well.

Most twitteratis are your average buffoons who would talk about India-Pakistan rivalry in a retweet of Shane Warne’s golf picture.

Don’t go by what they say. And also The Aajtak/Sportstak interview of Gambhir needs to be watched. He specifically mentions how he and Dhoni have been part of most major tournament victories together and thats a great thing and just that he was disappointed about certain things. Fine to share that kind of stuff. No big deal

Also very important - At least he is not trying cheap tactics what your average sports players do these days to promote their book by criticizing old team mates which would appeal to public to buy their book.

Good on Gambhir to have spoken his mind. What was happening in the team after 2011 WC was terrible. Dhoni had become too big and was using his proximity to Srini to do things as he pleased. Could have been a major factor for the 0-8 thrashing in Eng and Australia. That comment from Gambhir about difference between a captain and a leader and Kumble being the only leader he played under must be stinging for Dhoni.

Wonder if Sehwag, Zaheer and Harbhajan will decide to speak up as well. Imagine these three legends not getting farewell games because of Dhoni's petty politics, they deserved at least one game. I do hope Dhoni suffers the same fate.

Dhoni should have retired a year ago. It is a shame he insists on playing the world cup and the selectors don't have the guts to drop him. If more seniors from the 2011 world cup win speak up against him, it might bring more heat on Dhoni to step down voluntarily. I hope he doesn't get the opportunity to ruin a world cup for team India.

There is a massive gap between icf and aam junta.

In ICF, MSD is an ex odi ATG but is at present liability and well past his prime. Amongst the aam junta, MSD is a demi god and earned the right to deserve a sendoff on equal par to which SRT previously got. Meaning - when he wants, where he wants. Bekaaaj in India we give respect to idols and give them entitlement powers.

In ICF, vk is a batting genius who has the right attitude but bad squad management skills. Also all his success in overseas is his own and not because of his predecessors. Amongst the junta, vk is a God sent boon to the Indian team and all his success he enjoys in test cricket is because of the foundation that was laid by ganguly and MSD!!! Bekaaaj in India we give all the credit to predecessors if they underachieved, making them feel good for things they haven't done.

Only thing ICF and junta agree on is that the presence of Anushka Sharma wearing gaudy clothes and cheering vk in overseas test series is very cringey and a massive eyesore!!!

You are talking about social media more than aam junta. Quora, twitter, etc. Aam junta is currently very indifferent towards Dhoni, the die hard fan boyism has come down

1)Dhoni's popularity seems to have been going down but he still has his diehard fanbots.
2)Virat has lost a lot of good will following CT17 and Kumble saga and Anushka did way more damage to his fanbase.
Won't say people still don't appreciate him -but most of them don't really give a damn to him anymore, especially the older crowd.

So you are basically saying that a few hundred may be thousand people here on ICF are more intellect and knowledgeable about cricket than the so called "aam junta" in country of over a billion people

Oh come on stop taking us so seriously, this is just another forum on another topic

Majority of the people won't even know that ICF or its members even exist.

People here are as fickle or knowledgeable as anywhere as else.

Absolutely. Kohli has been far too generous on Dhoni. Dhoni as captain did not even spare the guys who backed him early in his career - people like Ganguly, Dravid, VVS.
