---- The reason why I chose Shaw over Rahul is because Shaw is a very fast starter and Rahul has temperament issues in international matches.

I'd still pick Rahul ahead of Shaw.. He seems to be in supreme touch with a more mature mindset than before.

Rest of the squad looks fine...

 

Although, I doubt they will pick a debutant fast bowler, Saini.. Will be great if they do.. Given how Kohli and our selectors think, the more realistic options are Jadeja and Umesh.

Jadeja would be waste of space really. But there is always one player in World Cup, who is just like that.

If they considered the IPL, the selectors would have to clean house. Very few among the Indian squad are having good IPL seasons.

rayudu will not be in. KL, Pant and shankar will get a shoo in. saini ( wildcard) vs jadeja is the biggest question but i feel they might go with jadeja. rest 11 select themselves by default( including chahal)

I will chose Mayank over Shaw as the reserve opener. He can bat aggressively or defensively based on conditions/situations. He is also a test opener in better form than Rahul and not as inexperienced as Shaw. I will go ahead with Prasidh over Saini based on recent IPL performances. Very impressed with him. He really rushes batsmen and gets extra bounce even on a spinning track like Chennai.

Looking at the robotic batting approach of India, Kohli has to take a punt with both Pant and Vijay Shankar. Both have shortcomings but still Ind have to make use of what they have got.

If Rahul is there, you don't need pant as back wk.  Pant should not be playing as a specialist batsman alone.

Hackudu will make it tbh. As will Jadeja as the back up all rounder. KarthikvsPant face-off will go down to the wire based on what they do today. The last spot could go to Rahul ahead of the 4th pacer.

That's why I feel Pant has to be in squad and in the XI, just because of mundane nature of the batting lineup. I know Pant can't be trusted upon but still he is something different from the usual suspects.
