I agree with Shastri that Pant can improve his keeping .... but he is good enough to be played as a specialist batsman too esp. for his power hitting abilities

Batting coach- be fearless but with caution ....(fir fearless kaise hua )

Captain- ur batting is not good enough so we ll ask KL to keep wkts n play extra batsman

Selector- we ll hire a proff coach to help his keeping

Head coach- ur keeping is also not good

 

So what message is communicated- 

• ur batting is not good
• ur keeping isnt good
• dont play ur natural game 
• To add he is dropped in test where he performed, he is dropped in ODI after making runs in last series

What's with all these comments by the coaching staff on Pant. That's quite unprofessional.  When did present coaching staff start airing negative comments about current players?  First it was batting coach, now the main coach, even commentators and fans in the stands were after Pant. Everyone is after him.  I don't recall any other player put into such scrutiny by the coaching staff. Quite unprofessional.

Nothing wrong with the statement,Shastri is coach so he is giving his opinion.Pant has been the  keeper in short formats since world cup and it was his  postion to lose and he lost it. Pant did not do anything to lose is test keeping slot, I would still make him the test keeper.

There is a perfect analysis by Bhogle on Pant's treatment by Team Management. Bhogle being diplomatic obviously did not say any harsh stuff, but said all the right things.

This is not the way to treat a talented player. Every player has negatives. Just focusing on Pant’s is ridiculous (and there could be politics behind that. Certain someone could be pulling strings in the background) and that too when he is good enough to play as a specialist batsman
