India wins or loses here is not important . He's at fault irrespective of the result

+++1.   Incompetence of greenbro batting shouldn't be used to hide Rohit's poor batting today.   I still think he's our best ODI opener, but he really needs to address this issue with his batting.

I will put my hand and say wasn't an outstanding innings but not a poor innings as every one is making it out to be. In the context of the game was a decent knock.

Interruptions didn't help.Rohit is a rhythm player and 2 times his rhythm was impacted. When he got the flow back he was runout.

People crapping on this innings. Had we given the option where India would be before or during Rohit's innings,we would take it in a heartbeat

A strike rate of 76 is good for an opener. Even Kohli was struggling in the middle overs.

Would be true in the 1990s. No more. 300 these days is more of a par total. On small grounds and flat decks, it is actually a little below par.

Moreover we only got 300+ thanks to some superb hitting by Yuvraj, Hardik and later Kohli. They showed how flat the deck really was. Rohit is still likely our best ODI opener but the way he was struggling in the IPL shows he is terribly out of touch. And his knock today was a continuation of the struggle.

I said in the match thread that pitch is not exactly a belter. Its sort of a sticky surface where the ball was not coming on to the bat and its not easy to time the ball. Even Kohli found timing the ball difficult. Yuvraj is different because he is more of a power hitter and can bludgeon the ball despite the slow pace.  Also the constant interruptions didnt help. 319 on that surface was a great effort and Rohit deserves credit for his contribution.

If rohit sharma was a pak . Would be an atg , skipper and future prime minister

Him and Azhar Ali would make a good opening pair .

I bet Rohit would still be playing the supporting role to Azhar .

One other hand, great batting by Dhawan which not many talked about. Brilliant start given at a good strike rate.

Rohit and Dhawan starting to look good together.

He completely escaped amir's spell. He faced a spinner first up and that helped him settle down. Sparkling innings nonetheless.

Before the match started I was hoping for a 20(30) kind of innings from both openers because amir with the new ball was the sole danger in their entire team. I was confident kohli and dhoni would see off the middle overs and Uv, kedar and Hardik would take care of the final slog. More than happy with the way things went. Rohit could have slowed down before the second rain break as the drizzle was heavy and he did not want to get out.
