Yes, consistent in being thoroughly mediocre support bowler. Most of his tight overs were due to batsman intentionally leaving outside offstump deliveries in order to take some time to settle in. They can take his class whenever they want. He is worse support bowler ever.

Even when we have 2 bowlers bowling well, you have Umesh, Ishant and Pandya totally sucking doing bare minimum job.

Umesh has been spray gun for long time, but this time he has cut down speed and still bowling crap.

Ishant is usually consistent, at least in last 3-4 years but not today.

Unsure of role of Pandya.

Ishant has given a good chance earlier in the day but what can he do if the best fielder spills a catching chance.

Eventually with the help of DRS, he could get a wicket. The bowler who needs to support main bowlers also need support!!

Pandya's been actually decent as 5th bowler.  Umesh was the biggest disappointment.  Ishant as usual has been ok as a 3rd pacer, but unable to "spearhead" anything other than farts.

true, the question shud be raised on ishant n umesh who were bowlers n didnt do their job

lets not bring buvi n bumrah in btw, they wnt be avl all the time.....n their form will also change

But its good these are getting a chance to show n on Day-1 they were exposed ...........Its time Indian cricket shud come to take a call on them specially Ishant.....

Earlier they use to be changed after one game n hence we never got to knw either they are capable to lead an attack....

Indian cricket has so much talent in fast bowling, its time we decide were to go with both of them

why surprised here????both Umesh and Ishant have been always mediocre as their records suggest.Infact was really surprised when both of them were played in this test.Kuldeep should have been in the eleven  in place of  either one of them. Never play both of them unless  the pitch and the conditions ask to do so.They are very one dimensional bowlers.

the basic problem of not ' keeping on trying talented youngsters  in dead rubbers, against lower ranked teams, at home matches  etc etc until  far more calibre seam bowlers are unearthed'. That's why still the team is forced to play these 2 proven prolonged mediocrities, this time  both at the same time. When Shami,Bhuvi( atleast under 30 avg:ing bowlers) & Bumrah(very high potential) are not available

together , team is forced to pick both these hacks together.

Passionate team supporters  need to pour in some sense into those 2 idiots( egoistic Kohli &  oppertunistic Sastri) w.r.t this basic matter. After all these are the time periods of social media and all.

Umesh is nothing without pace and Ishant is a genuine nothing, last time they bowled well was against visiting Aussies the reason is they bowled with pace....

Without pace ,they are the Jay and Viru who are chopping their captains hands

Those who say people here get over excited when they see pace ,need to look the highlights of yesterday ,were these guys bowling at full steam??they were just lifeless..
