zen Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Irrespective of the score line in NZ, 0-2 or 1-1, should Kohli resign from test captaincy (may need to be sacked)? May be it is time Kohli focuses on what he is best at - Batting! India is missing Kohli the batsman. It may never miss Kohli the captain. Captain Pujara can take over the mantle. Since the next test series in Aus is a few months away, Pujara will get enough time to mentally settle down and plan for better team performances and grooming a few youngsters.
wanted_desi Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 He will never do that. Just wait for 4-5 years till he retires. nevada 1

LordPrabhzy Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 He’s shameless, he will never resign. It took many many thrashings in tests overseas and bad results for Dhoni to be FINALLY sacked essentially. i think a whitewash in Australia ( which is very likely) might be a start of the process if Kohli stepping down- so far now wins in SENA ( apart from 1 Aus series) no WC wins, no T20 WC wins, no CT wins. I mean apart from winning tests at home and useless Agarbati ODi billaterals what has he actually done for indian cricket which any Indian captain can do( anyone can win at home leading India) sorak 1
zen Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 (edited) If a captain loses 3 series overseas after 18-24 months as captain, there should be an automatic process to evaluate captaincy and to see if a change is needed. I would not want the tenure of any captain to be more than 6 years unless he shows exceptional leadership and good form. If he does, he may get a final extension of up to 2 more years (depending upon how far he is from retirement) and of course also tasked with grooming the new candidate(s). This process should also be explained to those appointed to the role so they do not think and act as if they are appointed as captain for the life of their career. Suhaan Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 (edited) This superstar culture, media hyping jokers like him will always stagnate Indian cricket's progress Too much glamour, spotlight greed is probably found in every kid of this era They will always find ways to draw maximum attention ,Kohli has just started it,I see it in Shubhman,Shaw and every other young cricketer Someone truly said in this forum ,football needs to grow in India to tame this monster and make individual accountability relevant Edited March 1, 2020 by Suhaan sergio04, sorak and nevada 3
Vk1 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Kohli should continue as captain for tests as there are no real alternatives available at the moment. He should actually resign from ODIs and should play selectively in T20s.. this should help him in getting sufficient rest Ankit_sharma03, Cricketics and Vilander 3

Jimmy Cliff Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 He won't resign unless it really starts affecting his batting. He won't be sacked unless we get whitewashed in NZ and AUS both. Even that might not be enough.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 No....there is no better option then him Cricketics 1
Adi_91 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 He is going nowhere. Even if we get blacked in Australia, he will remain captain in whites until TC.

I would personally like to see new captain walk in every game and rotate among all 11. That is just me.
Lannister Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) Yes and no. He shouldn't be given an opportunity to resign, he should simply be sacked and booted out permanently from the team. Edited March 2, 2020 by Lannister raki05 1
raki05 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Reporter: Virat, what’s your reaction to your behaviour on the field, swearing at Williamson when he got out, swearing at the crowd. As an Indian captain, don’t you think you should set a better example on the field? Virat Kohli: What do you think? Reporter: I asked you the question? Virat Kohli: I am asking you the answer Reporter: You need to set better examples Virat Kohli: You need to find out exactly what happened and come up with better questions. You can’t come here with half questions or half details of what happened. And also, if you want to create controversy, this is not the right place. I had spoken to the match referee and he had no issues with what happened. Thank You. Unstable Joe and sergio04 2
Austin 3:!6 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) No. He is still our best batsman and most suited for captaincy. Some posters are speaking out of emotion than being rational while others like @Lannister is using this opportunity to peddle the agenda. India need to change few players from the team though. Likes of Agarwal, Pujara, Rahane needs to be replaced with Rahul, Iyer and Gill etc. Edited March 2, 2020 by Austin 3:!6 Nikola and sarcastic 2
