Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh likely to replace MSK Prasad, Gagan Khoda in BCCI selection panel

Recommended Posts

Former  India cricketers Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh have emerged as the two dark horses to replace MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda in the senior selection committee, which will be finalized on Wednesday.

The Indian squad for the home series against South Africa will be picked by the new selection committee, candidates for which have been shortlisted and will appear before the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for interviews in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The three-member CAC, headed by former India all-rounder Madan Lal, met on Tuesday with BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah.

The other candidates, who have shortlisted and will appear for the interviews before the CAC, are Venkatesh Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

Sunil Joshi likely to replace MSK Prasad

Former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi, who played 15 Tests, could emerge as the consensus candidate to replace MSK Prasad as the chairman of the selection committee. The tenures of MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda are already over while there are still a few months left for Jatin Paranjape, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi on the panel.

BCCI may likely continue with its policy of one selector from each zone as Sarandeep Singh, Devang Gandhi and Jatin Paranjpe from north, west and east zones are continuing in the existing committee.

Besides Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik are the other members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC's immediate task is to screen the shortlisted candidates for the posts left vacant by chief selector MSK Prasad (South Zone) and Gagan Khoda (Central Zone) as their tenures have ended.

For the second selector, who will replace Khoda, it could be Harvinder Singh, who has played for Punjab and Railways.

who said to be a good selector you should have been a champion cricketer? or even a coach?

Then what are his credentials? At least with the likes of Ed Smith for England, they might have not played cricket but they've written about it and are very educated about the game. This Singh guy looks like a recommendation selection and we will see similar cricketers for India in the future.

Bro if you think great players make great coaches and selectors i dont know what to tell you. This logic failed all the way back from kapil dev and extends to other sports too with people like maradona. A good coach needs to be able to have  a keen eye for the game and an ability to connect with the players. A combination of technical and man management.

Seriously, I mean seriously? This guy is equally mediocre to MSK. Like for like replacement. Dikhne main bhi bandar jaisa.

Guy has almost 300 FC wickets. Over 100 first class games. Very decent FC numbers. Even his ODI numbers are not bad. He was discarded too early and should have played more for India.
