If I am not mistaken there is one more ipl before next t20i WC hopefully  selectors catch sight of his performance by then.

Expectantly wants to see him at 4 pant/Kishan/Samson at 5 samad at 6 and Pandya at 7

yup in march april next year so not far away

Indian team has advantage of 2 ipl to look at before selection

He'll get picked by early next year. There's enough buzz about him now.

If you guys want to take matters into your own hands, do some voodoo/black magic or hire a sharpshooter to injure someone from the current squad so that he gets called up as replacement.

Top bloke for standing upto Kohli.

Plus he only moved on after realising that Kohli was acting like a child.

Thats a man right there. Too much seniority complex in Indian cricket right now. SKY, just for that piece of play, should be brought in.

If he stood up to Kohli then, I’m afraid he’ll not get any chance as long as Kohli is captain. And Kohli will be captain fir a long time...

So I’m happy that SKY is in a good IPL team. Hope he makes enough money. And keep thrashing Kohli’s team as many times as possible...

That’s dumb. If I had to bet Iyer is more of a lambi race ka ghoda than Sky. While I support his inclusion our fans get too carried away by IPL

Iyer and Rahul helped us win the T20 series in NZ as in they were the main contributors, he had 50+ avg and 135 SR, 2 matchwinning knocks. Memory of Indian fans I tell you.......

Rahane,M.Vijay,Dhawan have all played WT20’s :phehe:

Wasn't Vijay a gun player for CSK in IPL 10 years back?

It seems he was selected for 2010 WT20 squad, his IPL numbers were good that season as per this LINK, 450+ runs, almost 160 SR, 1 100....

SKY deserves a consistent run in T20s, give him 10-12 matches on the trot at #5.

I am also sure that if he doesn't live up to expectations posters here who are clamoring for his inclusion will be the first to open threads like 'SKY is a hack', 'what has happened to Indian batting culture', 'MI/Bombay bias in Indian team selection', 'middle order dilemma' and what not. Very easy to turn against players here especially after building hype. Posters had/have written off bright prospect like Rohit, Ishant, Shami, Rahul, Pant, Pandya, Iyer, Kuldeep, Sundar etc just because of some bad phases. First ICFers must grow up and understand that you hardly ever get a 100% finished product at that level, SKY will be no different.

Good thing is he can still play 2 T20 WCs at the peak of his powers, one of them in India. Pretty sure he will either be accommodated in Aus tour squad (standard 'niggle' tactic under this TM) or against Poms early next year. Plenty of T20s lined up in 2021 and '22 as well which works to his advantage.

This guy SKY has been around since 2010. I checked his domestic FC record - 44.x not something will guarantee a selection like Ranji dadas who are in 55-60 range.

His List A record is not something that stands him out. So others like Manish (with Aus ODI 100s), Iyer have surpassed him in optics in ListA to get selected for the National side. I agree, his IPL record is good since 2018, when he came back to MI, but until now, his FC/ListA/Syed Mushtaq Ali record is inferior to others (Maninh/Iyer/Others)  in that position. Also, in Vijay Hazare/Deodhar for India C, he played way down at #6 or #7 for Mumbai in 2018/19 to get any notice for any national selection. At that place his SR is great. and not at #3, where  he played for MI. Kh0li is our defacto #3 in T20 for India since 2014 where we are a force in WT20, SKY can't get that place based on IPL performance.  Where do we fit SKY in India T20? He can be in the bench to replace  a non-performing #5/#6 like Manish/Iyer/or Pandya

I want him to eventually replace Iyer/manish, even without watching IPL. He has a T20 game , and  we need more T20 specialists, If we select Varun or even a Tewatia (later) as a T20 specialist, SKY is a superior talent for T20 where the game is to have 360 degree ability to play out shots to 4s/6s. Hate the Kh0li/Thala play to knock around 1s with lunges and dabs.

Kohli has lost it. He tried to nudge singles here and there, eats too many balls and gets out.

Iyer has 28/130 stats in T20Is, ok but not great like his ODI numbers. Important contribution in our NZ T20 series whitewash, can't drop just like that. But if SKY has an opening it is only in place of Iyer. With Pandya as an unreliable bowling option, we must play 5 bowlers. Rahul cos of keeping role is providing semblance of balance, if he can't keep or gets injured we are screwed.

I am talking about Sharma and Iyer. Pandey mostly comes out to bat at #6 in T20s. It's the Iyer who is keeping Yadav out from #4 position. Yadav could also play as an opener in place of Sharma.

Iyer is okay and sky isn't competing for Sharma's place. Pandey is the one he should replace.
