In the red ball tests, Australia won all 3 tosses and we ended up winning 2 and drawing 1. Nobody has done that in Australia in recent times. Absolutely nobody! That needs to be mentioned!

For me, this is bigger than World Cup. Greatest test series win ever. Awesome stuff. This is the reason why we follow this game, to see days like this.

My first cricket memories take my to 1999 World Cup when Sachin scored 100 after attending his father's funeral and looked upwards like he paid tribute. In the same world-cup India lost to Australia while chasing 283. We were 4 down for 17 runs and I saw some magic happening with Jadeja and Robin Singh doing counter-attack. I remember shouting from first floor and asking my sister to join back whenever they hit four, but we lost.
We had some great players but we never won convincingly in foreign conditions because we were not good enough as a team. I have been watching cricket passionately for about 21-22 years now. Australia ruled cricket for almost two decades. They had of teams with likes of Hayden, McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, Ponting, Clark and Lee. I used to think will we ever play like Australia?

Never felt such satisfaction. They were missing main players, down in the first match after 36 run debacle but came back strongly. This win is on par with world cup wins. I have never felt so emotional on seeing India win a cricket match. May be because I dreamt of winning a test match, may be because chasing 300 plus on a day 5 pitch is always difficult, may be because Gabba has been a fortress for 32 years, or may be I grew up watching cricket, bunking school/college to watch special matches. This is indeed special.

Before this series win, I had 1971 win in WI as my best. Hereafter, to me, this is our greatest overseas test win, surpassing 1971. 

 

Bacchha party has played really well. Commendable job. Good that it has come in absence of current Indian No. 1 test batsman and not having top 2 Indian pacers for this test.

Without a shadow of doubt .... I mean just in case there was any doubt we played with 10 man teams for 2 tests. I cannot recall any other team that has achieved anything remotely close in world cricket under such circumstances.  By far the best day for Indian Cricket Fans alongside 1983.

Absolutely and even more so with the odds stacked up against us. I would have been proud even if we had lost today given the circumstances. But this team is not one to be satisfied with moral victories! This level of clutchness with a different hero each time is just too good!

For me, this moment stands alongside the 1983 world cup as the greatest in Indian Cricket history.

 

Purely for the odds that were stacked against us after 36ao and for young guns showing unreal spine, this victory will definitely initiate a turnaround and in my mind, the closest moment to this is the Natwest Trophy Final in 2002, where Kaifi & Yuvi took us home from an impossible situation! That taught us belief!

 

Here's hoping that this turnaround down under will usher in a new brand of brave Cricket from Team India, that will help us be good travelers and hopefully, win that WTC.

Went to bed after Rahane wicket last night. I got up praying that we would have at least secured a draw. Did not open news for 5 minutes... nervous 

Then the first headline on cricinfo - UN-freaking-Believable!!! Same as winning a 50 over WC, and the biggest, most against the odds win since 1983! 

 

Going top be a super week and a great 2021, I know it!

Absolutely!  I was holding on to 2001 EG for almost 20 full years (Mar 25, 2001 I think it was).  But it has been toppled!

I'm genuinely not sure I would swap the feeling I had yday for a world cup. At worst it's just as valuable and significant imo. Maybe that is because we won it less than 10 yrs ago.

Don't forget the Aus team had Smith all series and Warner for 2 tests and labu. They can't use the no smith no wanrer excuse no more

Same here bro. I have never felt so happy like this in all the years watching cricket. Maybe 2011 WC and 2007 comes close but still this is different level
