The Motera track may have received a lot of flak after the pink ball Test ended inside two days but it is unlikely to attract any severe sanctions from the game’s governing body ICC with the pitch for the final game set to be a batting beauty.

With India 2-1 up in the four-Test series and needing a draw to qualify for the World Test Championship final at Lord’s from June 18-22, another turner is currently out of question as the home team will be aiming to take minimal risks as far as the track is concerned.

Most the side pitches are good for batting a Motera. The central pitch was always a turner.

 

Assume next match not on central, then expect good batting condition first few days.

One risk with this approach is if we lose the toss, the Poms score big while batting first and we succumb to scoreboard pressure.

 

The pitch must be made super flat then and we must stick with the same team ( batting till 9 and 5 bowlers )  except a replacement for Bumrah of course.

I m sure we will lose the toss. We lost 11 out of last 13 against England.Infact of the last 9 tests we played ( 2 nz 4 aus and 3 eng) we have lost 7 tosses.. So yes the pitch must be prepared with a confirmed knowledge that we will bat second. Then if it goes our way.. as we say in English.. done and dusted.. literally..

The scenario we will face, if we lose the toss, must be kept in mind. Scoreboard pressure can result in strange batting collapses even on flat tracks

I am amazed how after thrashing the Aussies in their home fortress with a severely depleted side, we have suddenly lost confidence in our team's ability to beat a poor pom side on a normal Indian track. Such short-sighted vision undermining the team's ability for short term gains (WTC finals in this case) could prove to be disastrous for us in the long run.

 

IMO Chennai loss was not due to the pitch or toss. Our captain made terrible bowling changes on day one, had poor field placements, did not use the pacers properly (2 over spells), did not have alternate plans, we dropped catches and batted poorly. All those issues have been overlooked with dustbowls as the magic solution to all our problems.

Just get Umesh to play..  Don't prepare a slow low flat wicket like 1st game..  Prepare a flat pitch with good bounce so our pacers & spinners both come to play..  

Missing Hyderabad pitch that is great for batting plus offers assistance to both pace & spin. 

Toss will be vital here..  Still hopefully English team is mentally scarred.

By doing these we are 'admitting' that we indulged in 'theft' and will not do it again since our 'needs' our met.

 

Those needs will be 'unmet' with stupid captaincy, which RAT is adept at. We need a pitch that takes RAT's stupidity out of the equation.

 

We need a turner again that breaks from Day 3 onwards.

Yep if India wins the toss, England is dead. Like virtually no chance. 

 

If India lose toss they have to bowl week. And India will bowl well because guess what? Umesh is back for the flat decks. Shami too possibly. England Gaya

Tendulkar 60 perc tosses won. He should have done better IMO. ( think his two losses against saffers in india 2-0 where i guess he won both the tosses is a big blot)
