How did Indian batting fail in relatively easier batting conditions?

Recommended Posts

Just because sun was out , it was not easy to bat. Swing was almost the same as what the kiwis got in 1st innings, there more seam movement, add the variable bounce and it became tougher.

No excuse for our poor performance though. Needed just 12-15 more overs of batting but gave it away.

it can fail anytime and anywhere outside India , Why ???

  • Pujara has thrown his starts overseas again n again. He bats quicker as his innings progress but the reason for his slow s/r debate overseas is him throwing away his starts and all that remains is is low s/r
  • So has rohit , he hasnt scored in 80s outside india ever in test matches ever
  • Gill is new and will have his own issues
  • Kohli is not in his best of forms which was suppose to happen
  • Rahane mighty inconsistent
  • Pant plays a high risk game, that becomes even risker in such condition as any ball can have ur name but its still the right approach

The answer is simple: the middle order has completely lost their mojo. The last 2 years (since start of 2020), Pujara, Kohli, Rahane are all averaging below 30. We have been saved by some valiant knocks from Pant and to some extent Rohit (in home matches only) and some good bowling, but a middle order that is so inept cannot be persisted with.

There is no accountability regarding senior players.

Pujara and Rahane will play irrespective of whether they are consistent or not.

Kohli will play as well as be the captain irrespective of how he or his team does.

This policy ALWAYS results in reduced performances in EVERY walk of life.

Our batting has been underperforming for a LONG time. So, this is what is expected.

Our bowling has been bailing us out for a long time but did not do so in this match.

Why india didn’t try rahane at no 3 & pujara at no 5 or drop pujara and play rahul at 5 , vihari at no 6.

Because they are all a bunch of Ganpatrais, that's why! Kohli is the biggest Ganpatrai out there, goes AWOL like clockwork and brings in massive negative energy. Has there ever been an instance where our entire middle order has gone collectively AWOL for so long? At home hit man and then Pant saved us. Here, even they were powerless due to the conditions and the ball.

It was pathetic batting plus not even the will to change anything. Same batting order, they could have tried Jadeja at 3/4/5, Rahane at 3, Pujara at 5, Kohli himself could have come at 3, promoting Pant higher up - something to see if it works. But going by the 3 match excuse, the team had given up even before they landed

I did defend Pujara during the match. But no longer. The current WTC cycle has ended, as the new cycle begins, he should be on the bench vs England. But doing that would mean asking for accountability which has to start from the captain and coach first. So in effect, not much will change like after the 2019 WC SF surrender.

We are the original chokers though, if you count all ICC events :cantstop:

No we are third chokers. The first one was England. They lost three finals in 17 years. Then from 1996 SA took baton from them to 2014 -15. After that they are simply not a good team . From 2014 we took this honour . Always entering as one of pre tournament favourite but losing in final or sf
