World number one Deepika Kumari, who lost out to eventual gold medalist An San in the quarters at Tokyo Olympics, finished fourth in the trials.

Komalika Bari, 17-year-old upcoming Haryana girl Ridhi Phor, and Ankita Bhakat made the cut taking the top-three spots.

Among men, Punjab’s Aditya Chaudhary, 19-year-old Parth Salunkhe of Maharashtra and 2014 Youth Olympic bronze medalist Atul Verma grabbed the top-three places, ahead of Tarundeep Rai (ninth), Atanu Das (17th) and Pravin Jadhav (20th).

“It’s a very promising sign that the juniors are coming up in the senior team. They are the future,” Dronacharya and Arjuna Awardee Sanjeeva Singh, who oversaw the trials at the SAI Sonepat here, told PTI.

i am just going by what my mind says.

 

weather seems bad enough for the next two days that aditi will win silver.

 

for javelin vetter should get the gold but others have lower sbs than chopra and their 89ish pbs are 4-5 years ago. the pakistani's sb/pb is less than chopra's first throw in the qualifying. and chopra has been doing 88 this season.

 

again i am just saying what i expect depending upon recent rankings, performances, weather etc.

 

we might perform above expectations tomorrow - might be no rain, aditi goes on to win gold. vetter chokes and chopra gets gold. punia gets bronze.

 

or it could go the other way with no rain and aditi crashing out of top 3, chopra choking and not getting a podium finish and punia also losing (expected though).

 

i am just saying what i expect.

Most of which is rubbish spread by the federation officials to escape scrutiny.

 

Yes they failed to win a medal here, but let's not drag them down to show as if they have been useless.

 

We have not had much of a legacy in Archery at any level. Only in last 12-15 years our archers have started to do well. Earlier it was a one off Archer doing well sometimes (for e.g- Limba Ram in 1992 Barcelona Olympics). For the current archers to be at the top of rankings is a decent enough start. They have the skills. Need some more work on the physological aspects

Both are around the same level. Mexico best result was a quarter final same with Japan. And they both achieved those when they hosed the WC in their respective countries.

 

Football in the Olympics is a farce.

Tomorrow is Bajrang's Bronze match, as well as Aditi Round 4. The last day of action for Indians. On Sunday, there are events being held, but no participation from Indians.

Why OK? As big as London, biggest plus is the revival of Hockey. Now push money, scout talent, build on viewership following, the sport has a great future for India. We should focus on Archery, Shooting, wrestling, Boxing and Hockey to get our medals from
