maniac Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Spot on with his captaincy today. This could be the turnaround. Capt.Kohli 2.0 ? CodeOfWisden and speedheat 2
maniac Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Based on the highlights though sandeep, velu and CodeOfWisden 3
nevada Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Uh, no. Without Shami and Bumrah's miraculous partnership, we would have lost. Kohli is a good frontrunner but if the situation is 50-50 or more in favor of the opposition, he folds. CodeOfWisden, adi B, sandeep and 2 others 2 3
Suhaan Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Another day another gem from OP sarchasm and Ankit_sharma03 2
QuarantineTormentino Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Next innings if Pujara scores 50 off 80: OP - is this the resurgence of Pujara the free flowing stroke maker?
SK_IH Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 One thing I ll definitely say Loli keeps spectators & fans engaged with his antics, bakchodi, monkey jumps, sledging etc. In this context, he is definite upgrade over stupor days of MSD. Dhoni bhaiya khud bhi sojate the aur darshako ko bhi sula dete the in test matches Lord and AuxiliA 1 1
DeepSpace Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) Cmon now. Give him credit when it is due. He gets trashed by us all the time including from yours truly. He captained well in the 4th innings. No one expected England to implode, but we also bowled well. Most of the dismissals were to Jaffas. His passion was infectious and it showed how much it meant to him. I would take an animated captain than captain cool! He needs to score some runs now. This will definitely be psychological blow to England losing from a sure winning position. I think when Bumrah came to the crease, they lost the plot by trying to intimidate him instead of trying to get him out. The plan backfired. CodeOfWisden Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Hitler would be smiling from hell, yesterday was really amazing. Kudos to him. He is a total flop in lois as a captain but in tests he is not that bad.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Virat may not be the most intelligent captain in terms of tactics however in terms bravado, gamesmanship, a leader, body language, command of English is top notch. He and his team mentally disintrigated England, made them suffer a humiliating defeat in their home ground. Great victory, India should not let England off the hook.
kepler37b Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Nothing changes. We get carried away by results and loose the real picture. My assessment of kohli's leadership and temperament remains the same. He is very lucky to have a world class system backing him up.

He has done ok in tests compared to being a total dud in lois. Not saying he is amazing or something but still a major upgrade on his loi captaincy. Edited August 17, 2021 by CodeOfWisden
neel roy Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 See what kohli does is he brings out the delhi street ruffian stuff in these situations 1. Needling ollie robinson .. reminding its 90/7 and its a home test not spinning track in india 2. Playing 9 balls after lunch to ensure burns and sibley doesnt get 40 Mins rest and can focus for next innings. Making sure verbal volleys are showered on the two most docile well behaved players in england team 3. Stopping jimmys over as soon as the ball flew past slips for 4 and declaring. Wanted to make sure he goes wicketless. 4. Getting fwd short legs in. Bringing in helmets and making them stand on the eyeline of batsmen All of these may not have had any impact on game but it riles up opposition.. tikrambaazi Ravi_Shastri 1
Suhaan Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) He should retire from all formats after t20 wc,he is a passenger in all 3 he's not there to dhow us his fist pumps without doing anything/hitting kesrick Williams, his jazba junun is for paxtani fans not us,we deserve far better performance from him, when his contemporaries are piling on runs for fun,he is struggling to put bat on ball It was pure luck yesterday ,we had a miraculous parternship between Shami and Bumrah, would you count on those two to bat you out of mess or Kohli? Being a panauti i welcome this change in fortunes Edited August 17, 2021 by Suhaan

Adamant Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) No, what reincarnation? He has already won more tests than Clive Lloyd and is by far India's greatest ever test captain. He might end up as the captain with most test wins, but the brainless duds here on ICF will still have something to moan about. Also this looks like the perfect time for my comeback. goose Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 still looks like Kohli 1.0 to me - what's changed? he's going through a rough patch, he will come again soon.
