Can a case be made to open with Ishan Kishan in T20 world cup?

Kishan is someone with the ability to take advantage of the power play overs. I think a case can be made where India send him to open and gives him full licence to go after the bowler.

Going with just 5 bowlers is a huge risk. If say a shami pulls his hammy in the first over of the match, we're fukked. The next available options are SKY and Kohli who aren't even part time part-timers.

With that said, I think we can definitely try out Ishan if Pant or even Rahil don't perform in the initial few games. Must push Rahul down the order..

I think we should do it against PAK.  One critical factor of PAK  doing well is based on IMAD bowling well vs RHB in PP. Need  a leftie to attack him and i think he is the best

choice vs IMAD's darters.  May or may not come through but you need to upset their set plans .Also i feel the possibility of Ishan attacking him is more than 50% .

Agree. Also a left hander against Shaheen Afridi is needed.

 

Another point to note is with Pandya out of form, there is no lower order striker. Rahul can fill that role.

Kishan is a good option esp. if the role is to go all out in the PP. Any batsman that you pick needs to be given a consistent run in the first 3 games. Bowlers can be rotated.

With Surya back in form such a sudden move looks unlikely.  I am up for it totally though.  If the pitch is flat then why not?

The biggest problem with the Indian team is that Hitman/Kohli/KL are automatic locks in this team.

 

What this means is that scores beyond 160 are going to be challenging if these guys bat out 10-12 overs.

 

India must restructure their batting lineup so that it is not so defensive and end up losing games after the first 5-10 overs of batting.
