In the current form, I dont think we will miss him as a batsman too

Post covid Indian cricket has proved that we won't really be missing a certain player or heck even 2-3 "main" players. Barring maybe Bumrah, every other current Indian cricketer is  expendable and can be replaced by someone else without much of a drop off in quality.

This is why the BCCI and selectors should just bite the bullet and start phasing out all these 2009 era dinosaurs like Kohli, Rohit, Ishant, Jadeja etc. But they're spineless and care more about the player's brand value than his current form. One reason why Indian cricket will never ever reach the heights of 2000s Australia or 70s-80s WI.

Yes losing is ok. But I have 3 issues.

1) dint pick the best performers from ipl.

2) never picks the right combination

3)then hugs players after an abysmal loss

And acts like Arnab Goswami in the field  while captains like a chicken.

What do you mean Bozo? He basically won us the best away test series in the last 30+ years :hmpf:

We appreciate him for that. But we are talking about his batting.  He sucks even in India averaging 36. That series belonged to everyone except Lohli.  Vihari, Ashwin, Natraj, Sundarl, Lord.  Great team effort.

He'll create all sorts of mess if he is removed as the captain from other formats. Primarily because his ad contracts are tied with his captaincy and could strip off 30-35% value if he's no longer the captain. His PR and sections of mainstream media are going to create quite a scene.

Hope the BCCI remains remains firm and doesn't give into any sorts of blackmail.

he has dhoni's eg in front of him. He rakes in plenty even after stepping aside as a captain in all formats.

Excellent news if it’s true. Hope BCCI has learnt its lessons (I doubt) and won’t bring him back as captain saying, he was on break…

Also BCCI needs to push him to quit the Test captaincy. That’s very important.

Dude dhoni won India two world cups and a champions Trophy and also played a super clutch knock in one final. Now add IPL wins on top of that..

It's an apples to oranges comparison. Kohli has been a perennial loser at the big stage and has the choker tag firmly stuck on his forehead. He won't have a fraction of MSD's crowdpulling aura once he retires. All the more reason to be worried as he may suck the blood out of this team for 4-5 more years.

He is also cult figure with the CSK franchise, with 2nd highest no of IPL wins, while Kohli hasn’t even been able to win a single IPL.

Makes sense, people should not confuse Rohit's current failures (just 2 innings) in batting with his captaincy potential.

Rohit also has been the best Batsmen for India in Test & ODI since 2019.

Rohit should be captain in the next 2 limited over world cups (Limited Overs) and then retire after:

2022 T20 World Cup (Rohit Captain) in Australia - October 2022

2023 World Test Championship Final in England (Virat Captain) - June 2023

2023 ODI World Cup in India (Rohit Captain) - October 2023

Virat is a Good Test Captain, Lords & Oval wins recently were special.

Have Rishabh Pant as vice captain as he plays in all formats. Not sure of any other Candidates who also play all formats, possibly KL Rahul or Jasprit Bumrah.

Honestly even bumrah us not needed for places like new Zealand where we need swing bowlers or even in Asia. Don't get me wrong booms is very good in Asia too. He did average 24 in ranji but we don't really need him in Asia and certainly not in n.z. given slow swing bowlers are far more effective there.

England he is very effective due to duke ball and reverse swing.

Booms is vital in Australia and s.africa due to bouncy pitches.

In asia, shami umesh are just as effective if not more. In n.z players like ishant do better due to swing ability and bhuvi if he ever was fit. Perhaps siraj, prasidh and umesh is the way to go in n.z.

But we all know kohli will never drop booms. No one has the guts to drop him. Yes he is the best bowler in the world but there are times where even he isn't needed.

Burn effigies

Burn trucks

Bomb buses

Start a riot.

These are all possibilities due to power lolhi wields. Kohli needs to go down along with those paid that's who advocate for his captaincy to be retained.

Question is why does he choke something?

Is it a mental issue? I feel like if it happens consistently then it's to do with his inability to be captain firstly ofcourse. Perhaps he has been found out?

To Be fair even in his absolute prime from 2016-2018 in the series against England and Australia, I believe he was dropped a few times. Had those catches been taken perhaps he may not have reached those milestones?

Smith and root from what I have seen play chance less innings.

No honestly he isn't even a good test captain. Otherwise we would have beaten Kiwis even away in atleast one of the tests. Also 36 all out happened only under him albeit in pink ball.

We only won because rahane was captain.
