Scored 35 off 16 balls today against Sri Lanka. What are your thoughts on his innings?

 

It was a short innings but he made his intent very clear. Very different innings compared to what we've been used to.

 

I've been advocating for this guy for years and made fun of. @Ankit_sharma03 even said this guy wouldn't play for India. But he has played and he's the kind of player we need to have in T20Is.

 

Even scoring 30s or 40s at the top is okay as long as one scores at a strike rate of 150+ and make full use of the powerplay.

We need more such fearless batsmen who scores 15 ball 30. Not 15 ball 20.

Tripathi at top and Surya at 4 is a very  good combination.

 

It will.be fun when they bat together.He should not be dropped for the seniors.We need a aggressive no  batsman like him in the team.

 

The team management will now shunt him to all the position and will eventually drop him for senior's

Pandya should also give him to bowl,he bowls medium pace.

If he bowls 2 overs regularly he would be good asset as a top order batsman who can bowl some overs

Credit where its due - and the way he got out was a bit unlucky - yes the fielder was there and shot selection should have been better.  But he literally rescued India from floundering for few more overs and surrendering the decider T20 game.  

 

T20 demands this sort of initiative from batsmen, especially top order ones.

Tripathi at no 3 means we don't have to depend on SKY to do all the heavy lifting in middle overs.

 

He is a genuine hardworker, not very blessed or talented but he is unselfish and had shown multiple times in IPL how quickly he can turn the match around.

 

We need players like him and Shaw in our T20 setup specially on the flatter tracks. He will fail and we have to keep in mind that we can't expect consistency (SKY is just on another planet atm), but he is going to give his 100% in every encounters, that's a surety.

 

Add to that his medium pace bowling can give you 1-3 overs and he's a amazing fielder, you have a proper T20 package.

If he can bowl he's good option to have, else we need to keep looking

Far better than 65 ball 80 kind of innings on belter of surfaces ,these type of innings (cant say cameo in t20s)help team's cause

It doesn't hurts as balls conumed are quite less,no selfish batsmanship

More endorsements for such approach should come from every corner of Indian cricket,but 70s,80s and even the few of 2000s cricketers pay emphasis on stats building ,very very defeatist approach for lois infact not at all feasible in this t20 era that is(template)refleting on odis too

Tripathi's innings will probably be forgotten by many people today as everyone will be talking about Surya's inning but Tripathi really showed the way T20I cricket should be played at the top order.

The guy definitely has heart.

I am not convinced about technique as he gets into awkward positions while playing length balls. But nonetheless he deserves long rope for his right attitude.

Full sapot, i like what i saw which was no different to what we have been seeing in the ipl the past few seasons. We need more players with his fearlessness and temperament in the white ball team even if they are on the wrong side of 30 like him and Sky.

Was massively impressed since his KKR days, was one of their best players. Deservedly gets his opportunity and looked as he does usually. Brisk and unselfish. 

 

Unfortunately that such innings are called cameos by the commies, that was a great innings bringing momentum to an otherwise awful PP.

another such guy is Mayank Aggarwal who weirdly has not even debuted in T20Is

 

He's also fearless and spin hitter.

Tripathy is the kind of batter we need to promote in T20Is.

 

Fearless .. unselfish .. 360 deg batter .. looks to score at 200+ SR
